- Collect and interpret data and generate technical reports—either directly or through supporting junior staff.
- Communicate progress through meaningful discussions and presentations; formal technical reporting is expected.

Technical Sales Engineer Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical sales engineer in Minnesota?
Most technical sales engineers in Minnesota enter the field with a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or biomedical engineering and move into sales roles after gaining product or field experience. Minnesota does not require a state-issued license specifically for technical sales, but engineers who provide stamped drawings or serve as professional engineers of record must hold a Professional Engineer license through the Minnesota Board of AELTP. Certifications from industry bodies in automation, instrumentation, or life sciences strengthen candidacy significantly.
How much do technical sales engineers make in Minnesota?
Technical sales engineers in Minnesota earn a median of about $100,570 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,630 for the lowest 10% to over $147,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical sales engineers in Minnesota?
Employers hiring technical sales engineers in Minnesota right now include BTM Global, Syensqo, and whitefox, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 manufacturers and global medtech companies means openings appear consistently across the Twin Cities corridor and in Rochester's healthcare cluster.
Which Minnesota cities have the most technical sales engineer jobs?
Edina, Minneapolis, and Minnesota account for the largest share of technical sales engineer openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities concentrate most hiring because of the region's dense mix of industrial manufacturers, medtech headquarters, and enterprise software firms, while Rochester's presence draws volume from Destination Medical Center growth and the healthcare supply chain clustered around that market.
Are there remote technical sales engineer jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles because technical sales often requires on-site product demonstrations, facility walk-throughs, and relationship visits. About 50% of technical sales engineer openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote share highest for inside sales and software-focused accounts that rarely require hands-on equipment support.
How can I get hired as a technical sales engineer in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development or applications engineer role at a Minnesota manufacturer or distributor, where you learn the product line before carrying a quota. Companies like Ecolab and Honeywell run structured rotational or associate programs that place recent engineering graduates in customer-facing roles. Adjacent positions such as field service engineer, applications specialist, or technical support analyst at industrial or medtech firms in the Twin Cities regularly feed into full sales engineer roles within one to two years.
Where can I find and apply to technical sales engineer jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to technical sales engineer jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, identify the roles that match your background and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
