Which legal companies sponsor H-1B visas in Georgia?
Atlanta-based AmLaw 100 firms, including King and Spalding, Alston and Bird, and Troutman Pepper, have a track record of H-1B sponsorship for attorneys. Beyond law firms, major Georgia-headquartered corporations, such as Delta Air Lines, The Coca-Cola Company, and Home Depot, maintain in-house legal departments that have filed H-1B petitions. Sponsorship decisions depend on the specific role, the candidate's qualifications, and the employer's current hiring needs.
Which cities in Georgia have the most legal H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the overwhelming majority of legal H-1B sponsorship activity in Georgia. The city hosts the state's largest concentration of law firms, corporate legal departments, and federal court offices. Savannah and Augusta have smaller legal markets with some regional firms, but candidates targeting H-1B sponsorship in the legal field will find significantly more opportunities in the Atlanta metro area.
What types of legal roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in the legal field is most common for roles requiring at minimum a Juris Doctor or a foreign equivalent law degree tied directly to the position. Associate attorney, legal counsel, compliance attorney, and patent attorney roles are frequently sponsored. Paralegal and legal assistant positions generally do not qualify because USCIS requires the role to meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field is normally required.
How do I find legal H-1B sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B sponsorship and lets you filter legal jobs in Georgia by visa type. Rather than sifting through general job postings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers have demonstrated sponsorship activity. This is particularly useful in the Georgia legal market, where sponsorship availability varies widely between large Atlanta firms and smaller regional practices.
Are there any Georgia-specific or legal industry considerations for H-1B sponsorship?
Foreign-trained attorneys seeking H-1B sponsorship in Georgia should be aware that practicing law in most attorney roles requires admission to the Georgia State Bar, which has its own foreign attorney admissions process. Some employers sponsor H-1B status for legal research, compliance, or in-house roles that do not require Georgia Bar admission, but client-facing litigation work typically does. Candidates should clarify bar admission requirements with prospective employers early in the hiring process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B legal jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
