Which distribution and wholesale companies sponsor H-1B visas in New York?
Several large distribution and wholesale employers in New York have a history of H-1B filings, including Henry Schein (headquartered in Melville, LI), Sysco's Metro New York division, and pharmaceutical distributors like McKesson and AmerisourceBergen with regional operations in the state. Larger national wholesale firms with New York offices, such as Grainger and Genuine Parts, also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for H-1B petitions.
Which cities in New York have the most distribution and wholesale H-1B sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly the outer boroughs of the Bronx and Queens, concentrates the highest volume of distribution and wholesale activity due to port access and dense commercial infrastructure. Melville and Hauppauge on Long Island are significant hubs given corporate headquarters like Henry Schein. Albany and Buffalo support regional wholesale operations with periodic H-1B sponsorship, especially in food distribution and industrial supply chains.
What types of distribution and wholesale roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in distribution and wholesale typically applies to specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Qualifying positions commonly include supply chain analysts, logistics technology specialists, procurement managers, demand planning analysts, and operations research roles. General warehouse supervisor or freight coordinator positions often do not meet the specialty occupation threshold, so employers most commonly sponsor for analytical, technical, and management-track roles.
How do I find distribution and wholesale H-1B sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to browse distribution and wholesale H-1B sponsorship opportunities in New York without sifting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location to target the NYC metro, Long Island, or upstate markets. Migrate Mate pulls from employers with verified H-1B sponsorship histories, so the listings reflect companies that have actually filed petitions in this sector.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in distribution and wholesale?
New York's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B Labor Condition Application tend to reflect the state's higher cost-of-living markets, particularly in the NYC metro area, meaning offered wages must meet elevated Department of Labor wage levels. New York City also has local labor regulations that employers must navigate alongside federal H-1B requirements. Distribution companies operating across the tri-state area sometimes file LCAs covering multiple worksite locations, which adds complexity to the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B distribution & wholesale jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
