Search Accounting Jobs in New YorkAccounting H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
Which accounting companies sponsor H-1B visas in New York?
The Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, and Ernst & Young, are among the most consistent H-1B visa sponsors for accounting roles in New York, based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data. Mid-size regional firms such as Grant Thornton, BDO, and Marcum also file H-1B petitions regularly. Large financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup sponsor H-1B holders for internal accounting and finance functions as well.
Which cities in New York have the most accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming majority of accounting H-1B positions in New York, driven by the concentration of financial services firms, Big Four offices, and multinational corporate headquarters in Midtown and Lower Manhattan. Buffalo and Albany have a smaller but present market, primarily through regional accounting firms and state government contractors. For international candidates, New York City is where sponsorship activity is most concentrated.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field generally meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard. This includes positions such as staff accountant, senior auditor, tax associate, financial reporting analyst, and forensic accountant. General bookkeeping or clerical accounting roles that do not require a relevant degree as a minimum qualification are unlikely to qualify. CPA licensure or a master's degree strengthens a petition but is not strictly required.
How do I find accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface accounting roles in New York where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This removes the guesswork of identifying which firms are open to sponsoring international candidates. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on visa sponsorship jobs, so every listing you see is relevant to your situation as an H-1B candidate.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for H-1B accounting sponsorship?
New York's high concentration of financial services employers means many H-1B accounting petitions are filed for roles subject to specific licensing requirements, particularly CPA credentials for certain audit and attest functions. New York State has its own CPA licensure pathway, and some employers factor licensing timelines into their sponsorship decisions for entry-level candidates. Additionally, prevailing wage determinations in the New York City metro area reflect one of the highest cost-of-labor markets in the country, which affects the wage level an employer must certify on the Labor Condition Application.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B accounting jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
