Civil Project Engineer Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Civil project engineers are sponsored at AECOM, Jacobs, WSP, Kimley-Horn, Bechtel, and hundreds of engineering firms for roles managing roadway, bridge, water, site development, and structural projects that require civil engineering degrees. H-1B visa classification is automatic because civil engineering is a textbook specialty occupation, and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, CHIPS Act facility construction, and municipal infrastructure modernization have created the most sustained demand for civil project engineers in decades, with PE licensure significantly strengthening both sponsorship prospects and compensation.

Civil Engineering Firms Sponsor at the Highest Volume
AECOM, Jacobs, WSP, Kimley-Horn, Stantec, and HDR sponsor for civil project engineers managing transportation, site development, stormwater, and utility projects. These firms handle thousands of municipal, state, and federal infrastructure projects requiring large engineering teams.
Infrastructure Bill Funding Sustains Long-Term Demand
The IIJA funds highway, bridge, rail, water, broadband, and resilience projects through the next decade, creating sustained civil engineering demand nationwide. Federally funded projects require licensed engineers and drive sponsorship across every state.
PE Licensure Is the Most Important Career Differentiator
Professional Engineer licensure demonstrates U.S. practice standards, allows you to stamp construction documents, and is required for project engineer advancement. PE-licensed civil engineers earn 15 to 22% more and qualify for lead and principal engineer roles.
CHIPS Act Site Development Creates Additional Demand
Semiconductor fab and data center construction at Intel, TSMC, Amazon, and Google requires civil project engineers for site grading, utilities, stormwater management, and road access. These megaprojects create large civil engineering teams with aggressive timelines.
TN Engineer Is the Fastest Path for USMCA Citizens
The Engineer category on the USMCA treaty list covers civil project engineering for Canadian and Mexican citizens with engineering degrees. Same-day border approval, no lottery, no cap, and three-year renewable terms.
L-1 Transfers From International Design Offices Work Well
AECOM, Jacobs, WSP, and Stantec operate civil engineering offices globally and transfer project engineers on L-1 visa from international design teams. Build one year of strong project delivery and design documentation before requesting transfer.
