About The Role
As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, your work will be critical to enabling our audience of security and software engineers to understand the value of the Semgrep platform and its individual offerings. You’ll bring new products and features to market, partnering closely with sales, and our product management, demand gen, and community teams. By exercising your skills in differentiation and competitive messaging, you’ll also help Semgrep’s solutions stand out in the dynamic application security market. This role is a natural fit for someone with a technical foundation—a computer science background, software engineering experience, or deep hands-on work with developer tools—who is energized by the market-facing side of building a product. It’s what lets you write for engineers as someone who understands them, not someone who was briefed on them. Fluency with AI and the rapidly evolving AI-assisted development landscape is a significant advantage. You might have a CS degree and spent time as a software engineer before discovering you’re energized by product strategy and customer storytelling. Or you may have always been at the intersection of technical and business work, more interested in why customers buy than in shipping features. Either way, you can open a terminal, read a codebase, whip up a demo project, and then turn that hands-on understanding into messaging that resonates with both practitioners and executives. You move quickly, embrace ambiguity, and thrive in a market where the playbook is still being written.
What You’ll Do
- Develop product launch strategies that maximize impact and reach of our product development
- Become the subject matter expert for your product, including through direct, hands-on use of Semgrep itself
- Build demo projects and proof-of-concept integrations that bring Semgrep’s capabilities to life for developer and security audiences
- Use AI tools fluently in your daily work to accelerate research, content creation, and competitive analysis
- Show security and developer teams how they’ll benefit from Semgrep products by creating and shipping material that succinctly conveys their value
- Enable and train our fast-growing sales team by developing collateral for internal and external consumption
- Partner closely with product management on product and feature launches, and messaging feedback
- Educate the security and developer communities about the value of enforcing security and code standards
- Drive pipeline growth by collaborating with demand generation, events, community, and RevOps to ensure success of our messaging and high impact campaigns
- Make a direct, tangible impact on the product’s and company’s growth
You are ideal for this role if you have
- Experience in or a strong orientation toward go-to-market work, whether through marketing, developer advocacy, technical product management, sales engineering, or adjacent roles; career changers from software engineering or other technical disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply
- A computer science degree, software engineering background, or equivalent hands-on technical experience: you can read code, work with APIs, and build simple projects to illustrate product value
- Fluency with AI tools and a working familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, including hands-on experience building with or evaluating LLM-based products
- A love for creating product-centric marketing programs and content that communicate the value of technical products to bottoms-up and tops-down audiences
- Excellent communications skills that present technical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner through a variety of media
- Excellence in working cross-functionally with sales, pre-sales engineering, and product management teams
- Experience creating sales collateral based on sales and customer observations, user research, and competitive dynamics
- Deep understanding of how developers and security engineers work, including the tools, workflows, and pain points that shape their day-to-day experience
- A bias toward speed and experimentation: comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous market where the playbook is still being written, and able to move from idea to shipped content quickly
Compensation
The estimated starting annual salary range for this position is $135,600 to $210,000 USD. The actual base salary will be determined based on a number of factors, which may include job-related skills, relevant experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and market data. In addition to base salary, total compensation may include equity, variable compensation, and benefits. We view equity as a meaningful part of our compensation philosophy and a way for employees to share in the long-term value they help create. Compensation ranges are reviewed regularly and may be adjusted as the role, individual performance, or market conditions evolve.
What We Offer (FTE Only)
Our goal is to competitively and fairly compensate every Semgrep employee with a system that equally rewards those who are vocal and those who are less comfortable making demands during the final steps of the hiring process. To that end, we generate internal compensation bands that are used when discussing and negotiating salaries. We update these based on market data to make sure they’re above the average for comparable roles. We invest in our employees’ well-being and long-term success through a competitive, market-aligned benefits program that meets or exceeds local market standards across all of the regions in which we hire. Benefits offerings vary by location to reflect local requirements and norms. For more detailed, location-specific information, please visit Semgrep Benefits.
Who We Are
We bring together people from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines—from physics and philosophy to formal methods research and full-fledged corporations. We’re new parents and new grads, dog lovers and dogfooders. We get together often to bike, bake, and meet up in parks. In our interactions, we believe respect and honesty go hand in hand, and prioritize both. Semgrep is an equal-opportunity employer seeking a diverse range of backgrounds. We value who you are — including your cultural heritage, your socioeconomic status, your age, your race, your gender, your sexual orientation, your disabilities. We value what’s vitally important to you — your family, your religion, your politics. We value what you love in this world — your music, your weekend pursuits. We believe in welcoming varied professional backgrounds, educations, and interests. If you’re exceptional in your role, believe in Semgrep’s mission, and treat Semgrep’s values as your own, you belong here.
Please Note: For US-based roles open to remote work, we are currently able to hire employees in the following states only: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Product Marketing Manager
Emphasize cross-functional collaboration experience
Highlight experience working with engineering, sales, and design teams. Companies sponsor PMMs who can bridge technical products with market needs and coordinate launches across departments.
Showcase measurable go-to-market results
Document specific product launches you've led, adoption rates achieved, or revenue impact generated. Quantified PMM results demonstrate the specialized expertise that justifies visa sponsorship costs.
Target companies with complex product portfolios
B2B SaaS companies, fintech firms, and enterprise software providers regularly sponsor PMM visas. These sectors require specialized product marketing expertise that's difficult to find locally.
Highlight technical marketing skills beyond traditional marketing
Emphasize API documentation experience, developer relations background, or technical content creation. PMMs with technical depth are stronger sponsorship candidates than generalist marketers.
Position yourself for O-1 if you have startup or leadership experience
PMMs with founder experience, successful product exits, or leadership at high-growth startups may qualify for O-1 visas, which have no annual caps or lottery requirements.
Apply early in H-1B season for better lottery odds
PMM positions are common in H-1B filings. Submit applications in early March when registration opens, as companies often have multiple PMM headcount approved for sponsorship.

Find Product Marketing Manager JobsFrequently Asked Questions
What degree do you need for product marketing manager visa sponsorship?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field typically satisfies H-1B specialty occupation requirements for PMM roles. Some employers also accept degrees in psychology, economics, or even engineering if combined with relevant marketing experience. The key is demonstrating that your education directly relates to product marketing responsibilities.
How to find Product Marketing Manager jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Product Marketing Manager positions with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international candidates with sponsoring employers. Focus your search on tech companies, SaaS startups, and multinational corporations that frequently hire PMMs and sponsor H-1B, O-1, or other work visas. These companies often need marketing professionals who understand global markets and can drive product adoption internationally.
Do product marketing managers qualify for O-1 visas?
PMMs can qualify for O-1 visas if they demonstrate extraordinary ability through startup founding experience, successful product launches, industry recognition, or leadership at high-growth companies. Evidence might include product awards, speaking engagements, published case studies, or documented revenue impact. Most PMMs pursue H-1B, but O-1 is viable for standout candidates.
Which companies commonly sponsor product marketing manager visas?
B2B SaaS companies, fintech firms, enterprise software providers, and tech startups regularly sponsor PMM visas. Companies like Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, and Atlassian have historically filed H-1B petitions for PMM roles. Look for companies with complex product portfolios that require specialized go-to-market expertise.
What's the H-1B approval rate for product marketing manager positions?
PMM roles generally have strong H-1B approval rates when properly documented as specialty occupations. The key is demonstrating that the position requires specialized marketing knowledge, strategic thinking, and cross-functional coordination that goes beyond basic marketing tasks. Well-prepared petitions emphasizing the role's complexity typically succeed.
Can international product marketing managers change jobs on H-1B status?
Yes, but the new employer must file a new H-1B petition before you can start working. You can begin working once USCIS receives the transfer petition, not when it's approved. Plan for 2-4 weeks minimum between job offer and start date to allow for petition filing and USCIS receipt confirmation.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Product Marketing Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
