Service Tech Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Service technicians install, maintain, and repair specialized equipment across HVAC, medical devices, semiconductor manufacturing, industrial automation, and data center infrastructure, with EB-3 skilled worker green card sponsorship the most common visa pathway because most technician roles do not meet H-1B visa specialty occupation degree requirements. H-1B is viable for field service engineers at companies like Siemens, GE Healthcare, Applied Materials, and Lam Research where the role requires an engineering degree and involves complex diagnostic and calibration work.

Field Service Engineer Titles Have Viable H-1B Classification
Positions titled Field Service Engineer at Siemens, GE Healthcare, Applied Materials, and Lam Research require engineering degrees and involve technical diagnostics that qualify as specialty occupations. Target engineer-titled roles rather than technician titles to access the H-1B pathway.
Semiconductor Equipment Service Is the Highest-Demand Niche
Applied Materials, Lam Research, KLA, ASML, and Tokyo Electron cannot fill field service positions domestically as new fabs open under the CHIPS Act. These companies sponsor H-1B for engineers servicing deposition, etch, lithography, and metrology equipment at Intel, TSMC, and Samsung facilities.
Medical Device Service Roles Sponsor Routinely
GE Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers, Philips, and Medtronic sponsor field service engineers who install and maintain MRI, CT, ultrasound, and surgical robotics systems. These roles require biomedical engineering degrees and offer $70,000 to $110,000 with company vehicles and travel benefits.
EB-3 Skilled Worker Is the Primary Path for Technicians
Service technicians with trade certifications and two or more years of experience qualify for EB-3 skilled worker green card sponsorship through employers who can prove domestic recruitment failure. The process takes 2 to 4 years but provides permanent residency directly without needing H-1B first.
Data Center Technicians Are in Acute Shortage
Amazon AWS, Google, Microsoft, and Meta are building data centers at unprecedented scale and need service technicians for power, cooling, and network infrastructure maintenance. These companies sponsor for critical facility technician and data center operations engineer roles where the domestic talent pool is insufficient.
Manufacturer-Specific Certifications Set You Apart
Factory training certifications from FANUC, ABB, Siemens, Daikin, Carrier, or GE make you one of a limited number of authorized technicians for that equipment. Employers sponsor certified technicians because manufacturer authorization cannot be quickly replicated with domestic hires.

Find Service Tech JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can service technicians get visa sponsorship in the U.S.?
Yes, through two main pathways. Field service engineer roles requiring engineering degrees qualify for H-1B at companies like Applied Materials, GE Healthcare, and Siemens. Service technicians without degree requirements can pursue EB-3 skilled worker green card sponsorship, which takes 2 to 4 years but provides permanent residency directly.
What is the typical salary for sponsored service technician roles?
Service technicians earn $45,000 to $70,000 depending on specialization and location. Field service engineers at Applied Materials, GE Healthcare, and Siemens earn $70,000 to $115,000. Data center technicians at Amazon, Google, and Microsoft earn $55,000 to $85,000 with shift differentials and overtime.
Which industries sponsor service technicians most frequently?
Semiconductor equipment companies (Applied Materials, Lam Research, ASML) lead due to CHIPS Act fab expansion. Medical device manufacturers (GE Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers, Philips) sponsor for imaging and surgical equipment service. Data center operators and industrial automation companies (FANUC, ABB, Rockwell) also sponsor for specialized roles.
What qualifications improve a service technician's sponsorship prospects?
An engineering degree opens the H-1B pathway for field service engineer roles. For EB-3, trade certifications and at least two years of documented experience are required. Manufacturer-specific training from FANUC, Siemens, Applied Materials, or GE significantly strengthens your candidacy.
How to find Service Tech jobs with visa sponsorship?

What is the career progression for a sponsored service technician?
The path moves from service technician to senior technician to field service engineer to service team lead to regional service manager. Regional managers at major equipment companies earn $100,000 to $145,000. Some technicians transition into applications engineering, technical training, or product support roles.
