Most Kansas employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or communications, followed by several years in account management or client services roles. Moving into a director title typically means demonstrating you can own a book of business, lead a team, and hit retention and growth targets consistently.
How much do account directors make in Kansas?
Account directors in Kansas earn a median of about $62,580 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $34,200 for the lowest 10% to over $147,800 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account directors in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring account directors in Kansas include State Farm, Rent-A-Center, and Cox Automotive, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's mix of healthcare technology, energy, agriculture, and regional marketing agencies means account director openings appear across a range of industries rather than concentrating in a single sector.
Which Kansas cities have the most account director jobs?
Overland Park, Wichita, and Kansas City have the most account director openings in Kansas. Overland Park and the broader Kansas City metro drive volume through its dense concentration of corporate headquarters, healthcare networks, and regional agency offices, while Wichita contributes openings tied to its aviation, manufacturing, and healthcare employer base.
Are there remote account director jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and they're more common for this role than many others. About 51% of account director openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting that much of the work involves client communication, strategy, and reporting rather than on-site presence. The most fully remote openings tend to be with SaaS, media, or national enterprise accounts where clients and teams are distributed.
How can I get hired as an account director in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing an account manager or account executive role first, then building toward director over two to four years. Large Kansas employers in healthcare technology and financial services, including regional insurance carriers and hospital network marketing teams, regularly bring on account coordinators and associate account managers as entry points. Candidates who can show a portfolio of client work, CRM proficiency, and a record of renewing or expanding accounts tend to move fastest into director consideration.
