Business Development Executive Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development executive in Washington?
Most business development executive roles in Washington require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license applies to the role itself. Employers in Washington's technology and defense corridors typically look for several years of progressive sales or partnerships experience. Earning certifications such as Salesforce Administrator or a relevant project management credential strengthens a candidacy, and demonstrated familiarity with Washington's enterprise software or government contracting market is a consistent differentiator.
How much do business development executives make in Washington?
Business development executives in Washington earn a median of about $147,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $95,490 for the lowest 10% to over $175,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business development executives in Washington?
Employers hiring business development executives in Washington right now include JPMorganChase, Amazon, and Providence, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of global technology headquarters and major defense contractors means hiring stays active across both high-growth startups and large established organizations throughout the year.
Which Washington cities have the most business development executive jobs?
Seattle, Kent, and Renton have the most business development executive openings in Washington. Seattle's role as a global technology and cloud computing hub drives the largest share of demand, while Bellevue and Redmond capture significant volume because of Microsoft's campus and the dense cluster of enterprise software companies headquartered on the Eastside.
Are there remote business development executive jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than many fields, because business development work is fundamentally relationship-driven and communication-based rather than tied to a physical location. About 60% of business development executive openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly Washington's technology and SaaS employers have adopted flexible work. The most remote-friendly segments are enterprise software sales and cloud solutions partnerships, while defense and aerospace roles more often require on-site presence due to security requirements.
How can I get hired as a business development executive in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a business development representative or sales development representative role at one of Washington's many technology companies, where structured ramp programs at employers like Microsoft or mid-size Seattle SaaS firms are designed to develop new talent. A lateral move from account management, marketing, or customer success within the same company is also common. Building a portfolio of measurable outcomes, such as pipeline generated or partnerships closed, and earning a Salesforce certification gives candidates without formal executive-level experience a concrete edge in Washington's competitive hiring market.
Where can I find and apply to business development executive jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to business development executive jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, and other hiring markets in the state.
