Client Services Manager Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a client services manager in Virginia?
Client services manager roles in Virginia do not require a state-issued license, but most employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, communications, or a related field alongside several years of account management or client-facing experience. In Northern Virginia, familiarity with federal procurement processes and government contracting environments gives candidates a measurable edge, while Richmond employers in financial services often look for candidates with industry-specific client portfolio experience.
Which companies hire client services managers in Virginia?
Companies currently hiring client services managers in Virginia include BDO, Keiter, and Virginia Tech, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Virginia's concentration of federal contractors and major financial institutions means openings are especially consistent with employers who manage large government or enterprise client accounts.
Which Virginia cities have the most client services manager jobs?
Blacksburg, Glen Allen, and Norfolk lead Virginia for client services manager openings. Northern Virginia dominates because of its dense cluster of federal contractors and technology firms headquartered in and around Arlington and McLean, while Richmond draws steady demand from financial services companies and corporate headquarters based there, and Virginia Beach supports openings tied to defense, healthcare, and regional business services.
Are there remote client services manager jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of client services manager openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the day-to-day work, account coordination, reporting, and client communication, translates cleanly to distributed settings. Strategy and onboarding work tends to require in-person presence, while ongoing account management is where remote arrangements are most common.
How can I get hired as a client services manager in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a customer success associate, account coordinator, or client support specialist role, then moving into management after demonstrating ownership of client outcomes. Large Northern Virginia federal contractors like Leidos and Booz Allen Hamilton run associate and rotational programs that place early-career candidates in client-facing teams. A CRM certification, such as Salesforce Administrator, and experience managing even small client relationships through internships or adjacent roles in sales support or project coordination significantly strengthens an application.
