Commercial Account Manager Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a commercial account manager in Ohio?
Most Ohio employers require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field alongside prior B2B sales or account management experience. For roles in commercial insurance, you must hold an active Ohio Property and Casualty insurance license issued by the Ohio Department of Insurance, which requires passing a state licensing exam. In other industries such as logistics or manufacturing, relevant experience and a strong sales record typically matter more than formal licensing.
How much do commercial account managers make in Ohio?
Commercial account managers in Ohio earn a median of about $59,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,110 for the lowest 10% to over $122,100 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire commercial account managers in Ohio?
Employers hiring commercial account managers in Ohio right now include Dohner Landscaping, HP, and Qlik, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's dense concentration of insurance carriers, regional banks, and industrial distributors means hiring stays active year-round across multiple sectors.
Which Ohio cities have the most commercial account manager jobs?
Columbus, Cleveland, and Ohio account for the largest share of commercial account manager openings in Ohio. Columbus leads because of its headquarters concentration in insurance and financial services, Cleveland draws volume from manufacturing services and logistics firms along the Lake Erie corridor, and Cincinnati benefits from its base of consumer goods companies and regional distribution operations that maintain sizable commercial account teams.
Are there remote commercial account manager jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than most client-facing roles. About 79% of commercial account manager openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on phone, video, and CRM-based client management rather than in-person visits. Portfolio renewal, reporting, and inside sales functions are the most commonly offered as fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a commercial account manager in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as an account coordinator, sales development representative, or customer service associate at an Ohio-based carrier or distributor, then moving into account management after demonstrating client retention results. Nationwide and Progressive both run associate and rotational programs in Columbus that place newer professionals on commercial lines teams. Earning an Ohio Property and Casualty license before applying gives candidates a concrete credential advantage even without years of direct account management experience.
Where can I find and apply to commercial account manager jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to commercial account manager jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings across industries including insurance, logistics, and financial services. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
