Sales Executive Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales executive in Ohio?
Most Ohio employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, though some industries weigh demonstrated sales performance over formal education. Ohio does not require a state-issued license for general sales executive roles, but professionals selling securities or insurance must obtain the appropriate Ohio Department of Insurance license or FINRA registration before working in those fields. Building experience in inside sales or account management is the most common path to senior sales executive positions.
How much do sales executives make in Ohio?
Sales executives in Ohio earn a median of about $135,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $74,190 for the lowest 10% to over $251,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales executives in Ohio?
Employers hiring sales executives in Ohio right now include Target, T-Mobile, and City Wide Facility Solutions, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major healthcare and financial services companies means consistent year-round demand across both enterprise and mid-market sales roles.
Which Ohio cities have the most sales executive jobs?
Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland are the cities with the most sales executive openings in Ohio. Columbus drives the largest share because it is home to major insurance, financial services, and technology employers, while Cleveland and Cincinnati attract strong demand from manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics companies headquartered in those metro areas.
Are there remote sales executive jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than many fields, since senior sales roles focused on enterprise accounts or SaaS products often operate remotely. About 61% of sales executive openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how heavily technology and financial services companies in the state have adopted flexible work arrangements. Client-facing territory roles tied to manufacturing or medical devices are more likely to require in-person travel.
How can I get hired as a sales executive in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales representative or sales development representative role, which large Ohio employers across financial services, healthcare technology, and insurance use as structured training pipelines before promoting into executive-level positions. Companies such as Nationwide and Cardinal Health run formal rotational or associate sales programs that welcome candidates without prior experience. Earning a relevant credential, such as an Ohio Department of Insurance license for those pursuing insurance sales, immediately distinguishes candidates and accelerates hiring decisions.
Where can I find and apply to sales executive jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to sales executive jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
