Frame your credentials around specialty gas applications
Airgas hires business development talent with demonstrable knowledge of industrial gas products, cryogenics, or welding consumables. Before applying, map your resume experience directly to the end markets Airgas serves, such as manufacturing, healthcare, or aerospace.
Target regional territories with open headcount
Airgas structures business development roles by geographic territory. Search open positions filtered by region rather than applying broadly. A role tied to a high-growth territory is more likely to move quickly through offer and sponsorship paperwork than a backfilled position.
Confirm H-1B specialty occupation eligibility early
Business development roles can face USCIS scrutiny over whether the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. Request a copy of the job description and confirm your degree field directly maps to the role before the employer initiates an H-1B petition with DOL.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Airgas openings
Airgas posts business development roles across its distribution network, and listings move quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track active Airgas positions that have a confirmed visa sponsorship history, so you focus your applications where the path forward is clearest.
Prepare for a longer PERM timeline on Green Card paths
If your goal is permanent residence through EB-2 or EB-3, understand that PERM labor certification through the DOL can take well over a year. Discuss Green Card intent with Airgas hiring managers before accepting an offer, not after your first H-1B period begins.
Build a reference network inside chemical distribution
Airgas promotes internally and values relationships with incumbent distributors and suppliers. A referral from someone within the industrial gas or chemicals sector who knows Airgas operations carries genuine weight and can accelerate the hiring process past the initial screening stage.

Find Business Development Manager at Airgas JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Airgas sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes. Airgas has sponsored H-1B visas for business development professionals, and the role can qualify as a specialty occupation when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as chemistry, chemical engineering, or business. You should confirm with the hiring team early in the process that the specific role they are filling meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria, since job scope can vary by territory.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Manager roles at Airgas?
H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa path for business development roles at Airgas. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Airgas has sponsored Green Card petitions through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories, which require PERM labor certification through the DOL. Candidates already holding an H-1B with another employer can transfer their petition to Airgas once an offer is in place.
What qualifications and experience does Airgas expect for Business Development Manager roles?
Airgas typically looks for candidates with a background in industrial gases, chemicals, welding products, or related materials science fields. A bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, or business is generally expected. Practical experience managing B2B sales cycles, developing distribution partnerships, or working with manufacturing or healthcare clients in the chemicals and materials space strengthens your profile significantly for territory-based roles.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Airgas?
You can apply directly through the Airgas careers portal or find open positions through Migrate Mate, which filters Airgas listings by roles with a confirmed visa sponsorship history. When applying, tailor your application to the specific territory and end market the role covers. Airgas business development hiring often runs through regional managers, so a targeted application referencing the territory's industrial mix tends to stand out.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap and Airgas's hiring cycle?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS typically opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you are not currently in H-1B status, you need an offer from Airgas far enough in advance to register in that window. Airgas hires business development managers on a rolling basis, so targeting applications between October and January gives you the longest runway to secure an offer before the registration deadline.
