Sales
Sales is the growth engine at Brex. We bring in new customers, expand existing relationships, and drive the company's bottom line. With unlimited territories and uncapped opportunity, your ambition sets the ceiling. We win together, celebrate often, and reward performance. If you want to sell a category-defining product with real ownership, this is your team.
We are seeking a results-driven Account Manager to serve as the strategic partner for our high-potential Growth customers. In this hybrid role, you will bridge the gap between relationship management and revenue generation. You will own a book of ~120-150 customers and be responsible for retaining their revenue, driving full platform adoption, and identifying opportunities to expand their Brex usage. You will be tasked with understanding their financial workflows—accounting processes to stakeholder dynamics—and translating those insights into measurable business value.
Where You'll Work
This role will be based in our San Francisco office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. Team members are expected to work in-office three days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). Brex also offers the flexibility to work remotely for up to four weeks per year, in one-week increments.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a book of customers, ensuring Brex is an essential part of how our customers operate
- Drive revenue by proactively identifying expansion opportunities and tying Brex's value to measurable business results - including running structured discovery calls, creating commercial proposals, and negotiating pricing terms
- Deeply understand each customer's workflows, accounting processes, and financial priorities to uncover pain points and steer stakeholder dynamics to influence full adoption
- Build relationships across multiple levels of stakeholders (from controller up to CFO) across the finance team, tailoring your communication and value framing to each audience and flagging risks or opportunities early with a recommended plan of action
- Work cross-functionally with Risk, Underwriting, Legal, and Deal Desk to ensure we are balancing customer needs with revenue impact
- Bring operational excellence through strong documentation, proactive communication, and project management. Keep customers and internal teams aligned on progress, blockers, and next steps via forecasting, CRM hygiene, activity tracking, and deal qualification.
- Lead quarterly business reviews to translate insights and data into recommendations that help customers maximize their ROI from Brex
- Advocate for customers internally by surfacing themes and insights that influence product direction and improve customer experience
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in customer-facing roles managing a book of business, owning account health, executive relationships, renewals, and expansion strategy
- Fluency in the language of modern finance, demonstrated through hands-on experience with the ecosystem of financial technology - including ERPs, spend management platforms, or AP automation tools
- Experience and comfort interacting with a high volume of customers at different stages of the customer lifecycle
- Strong business acumen with a finance-first mindset and comfortable speaking the language of CFOs, Controllers, and FP&A teams
- Ability to analyze product usage data and detect important insights and trends
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and influencing internal roadmaps based on customer needs
- Coachability and grit, with an interest in growing your sales career
- Bachelor's degree; finance, business, or related fields
Bonus Points
- You understand the bigger picture of customer value
- Experience in this or a similar role within a rapidly expanding start-up
- You are energized by building relationships across a wide range of levels and roles
- Experience in the credit card management space, including understanding limits, rewards, and underwriting
- Background in corporate accounting or financial systems
- Familiar with sales tools like Gong, Salesforce, and others
- Series 7 license

Align your background with fintech sales
Brex prioritizes BDM candidates who can speak to payments infrastructure, corporate cards, or spend management. Frame your resume around deal cycles, partner acquisition, and revenue outcomes relevant to financial services, not general sales experience.
Verify your OPT timeline before applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, check your I-20 end date before submitting applications. Brex's BDM hiring process can take several weeks, so confirm your remaining authorized period aligns with a realistic start date before your OPT expires.
Target Brex's enterprise and partnerships teams
Brex posts BDM roles across multiple segments, but enterprise partnerships and channel development positions have the most consistent sponsorship history. Filter your search toward those tracks rather than early-stage or SMB-focused sales roles.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Brex BDM openings
Filter by visa type and role category on Migrate Mate to find current Business Development Manager openings at Brex that explicitly support sponsorship, saving time you'd otherwise spend parsing job descriptions for immigration language.
Address sponsorship directly in recruiter screens
Brex recruiters move quickly through phone screens. State your visa status and timeline upfront rather than waiting for the offer stage. Recruiters familiar with H-1B and TN processes can route your application to the right hiring manager sooner.
Understand PERM implications for long-term eligibility
For EB-2 or EB-3 pathways, PERM requires DOL to certify no qualified U.S. workers are available for your specific role. BDM job descriptions at Brex often list specialized fintech or payments experience, which strengthens the case for a differentiated labor market test.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Brex sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Brex sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. The company has an active track record of supporting H-1B candidates in this function, particularly for roles requiring specialized fintech, enterprise sales, or payments experience. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, factor the annual lottery cycle into your timeline when targeting a start date.
Which visa types does Brex commonly support for Business Development Manager roles?
Brex supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Business Development Manager positions. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are typically used by recent graduates earlier in the hiring pipeline before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Brex?
Browse current Business Development Manager openings on Migrate Mate to find Brex roles that explicitly support visa sponsorship. Once you identify a position, apply through Brex's careers page. Prepare to discuss your visa status early in the recruiter screen, and tailor your application to highlight experience in fintech, enterprise partnerships, or financial services sales.
What qualifications does Brex typically look for in Business Development Manager candidates?
Brex typically looks for candidates with experience in B2B sales, enterprise partnerships, or business development within financial services or technology. Familiarity with corporate spend management, payments infrastructure, or SaaS sales cycles is a strong signal. A bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field is standard, and direct fintech experience is weighted heavily at the senior level.
How do I time my H-1B application when pursuing a Business Development Manager role at Brex?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, so coordinate your offer and onboarding timeline around that window. If you're on OPT with a cap-gap benefit, you can continue working past your OPT expiration while your H-1B petition is pending. Confirm your status and authorized period with USCIS guidance before accepting an offer.
