About the Team
At DoorDash we're building the industry's most scalable and reliable delivery network to support our three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers. TPMs on our Engineering teams provide fundamental support to the underlying technology services as well as the engineers building these services. It's no simple task, but it wouldn't be interesting if it was!
About the Role
Our team is looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager for our Marketplace Engineering Teams to drive important engineering-wide initiatives related to next gen engineering platforms. Platform areas include Homepage initiative, Consumer Growth, DashPass, and Pricing. Programs will require a strong technical understanding, general cross organization coordination/facilitation, stakeholder management, and ownership of results.
You will report into the centralized Technical Program Management team in Engineering. You must be located in either the San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Owning Marketplace Programs - You will partner closely with Consumer Platform, Marketplace, Merchant, and New Verticals organizations, as well as key engineering and product leaders to establish the vision, strategy, technical direction and success metrics for our platform teams. Focus areas for your programs will include data quality, operational excellence, product launches and platform enhancements.
- Planning & Execution Optimization - You will drive optimization related to planning Engineering objectives and key results, develop frameworks for team execution/tracking, and provide visibility to resource allocation and prioritizations.
- Domain Technical Depth - You will develop a full understanding of our technical stack and interdependencies, allowing you to contribute to designs and ensure they are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
- Stakeholder Management - Manage expectations for all stakeholders from leadership to individual teams, possess strong problem solving and negotiation skills, and earn trust of partners and teams.
- Navigating the Organization - Understand engineers and enjoy working with them, building trust by developing strong technical domain knowledge that adds value beyond project management.
- Communications - Manage timely and succinct communications to leadership and across teams to ensure accountability and timeline management.
- Process - Develop processes to ensure teamwork is streamlined to manage complexity and optimized velocity. You are thoughtful about how and when to implement processes with a light touch and clear understanding of success within DoorDash's culture.
- Time Management - Balance urgency and priority while moving the needle on multiple initiatives.
We're excited about you because…
- You're experienced in working with large-scale distributed systems, as well as client-side and platform teams, who own Tier 0 services serving external customers. You can speak to system architecture, scalability and reliability decisions, and design trade offs.
- You're a strong leader with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across organizations, bridge gaps between teams, and successfully influence without authority.
- You have strong ownership, urgency, and drive. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and drive into the details to understand and drive your programs.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with confidence, clarity, and focus. You can convey concepts and considerations to non-experts and experts alike.
- You've engaged with Engineering teams on product & platform development with a thorough understanding of software development processes and project planning.
- You are pragmatic and detailed in your approach and focus on progress, not perfection.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline.

Align your experience to DoorDash's programs
DoorDash Program Development Manager roles typically require cross-functional program ownership, not just project coordination. Frame your resume around outcomes you drove across engineering, ops, or product teams rather than task-level responsibilities.
Clarify your visa category before applying
DoorDash sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Confirm which category fits your situation before your first recruiter call so you can answer sponsorship questions accurately and avoid delays later in the process.
Time your OPT extension request carefully
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS requires your STEM OPT extension application to be filed before your current EAD expires. Start the employer I-983 training plan process at least 90 days out to avoid a gap that could affect your DoorDash start date.
Prepare for DoorDash's structured interview loop
DoorDash uses a structured interview process for program roles that includes cross-functional collaboration scenarios and data-informed decision-making cases. Practice articulating how you've managed competing stakeholder priorities across technical and non-technical teams.
Verify your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
For H-1B purposes, USCIS requires Program Development Manager roles to demonstrate a direct relationship between the job duties and a specific degree field. Make sure your offer letter describes responsibilities that map clearly to your educational background before your employer files Form I-129.
Search DoorDash openings through Migrate Mate
Browse current Program Development Manager listings at DoorDash filtered by visa sponsorship type using Migrate Mate, so you can confirm which roles actively support your category and apply directly without guessing about sponsorship eligibility.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Program Development Managers?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Program Development Manager roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual lottery, your employer submits a registration in March for a cap-subject selection. DoorDash has demonstrated consistent sponsorship activity in this role category, so if you're selected, the company is well-positioned to proceed with the full I-129 petition.
How do I apply for Program Development Manager jobs at DoorDash?
Applications go through DoorDash's careers site, but you can find and filter open Program Development Manager roles by visa type using Migrate Mate before applying. The interview process typically involves a recruiter screen, a cross-functional program case interview, and a structured loop with hiring managers and stakeholders across product or operations.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly use for Program Development Manager roles?
DoorDash sponsors a broad range of visa categories for this role, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), E-3 visa (for Australian nationals), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and current status.
What qualifications does DoorDash expect for a Program Development Manager?
DoorDash generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a field like business, engineering, operations, or computer science, plus meaningful experience managing complex cross-functional programs. For H-1B eligibility specifically, your degree field needs to have a direct relationship to the role's core duties, which is something to verify before USCIS reviews your petition.
How do I plan my timeline if DoorDash extends a job offer and I need visa sponsorship?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B cap-subject cases have an October 1 start date tied to the annual lottery cycle, so an offer in spring maps to a fall start. E-3 and TN processing at a U.S. consulate can move faster, often within a few weeks. Discuss your current status with DoorDash's immigration team early so your start date is set realistically.
