Verify Your License Transfers Across States
Trinity Health operates facilities in multiple states, so the therapy license you obtain in one state may not cover a role in another. Confirm your licensure is valid in the specific state where your target position is posted before applying.
Target Roles With Documented Specialty Shortages
Trinity Health's sponsorship activity for Therapists tends to concentrate where clinical shortages are sharpest, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology. Filtering your search by these disciplines improves the likelihood you're applying to a role already budgeted for sponsorship.
Search Trinity Health Openings Through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Therapist positions at Trinity Health by visa type. This surfaces roles where sponsorship has already been confirmed, so you're not guessing which postings are open to international candidates.
Request Clarity on the LCA Before Accepting
Before signing an offer, ask Trinity Health's HR team whether the Labor Condition Application has been filed with the DOL for your specific work site. The LCA is tied to a location, and transferring to a different Trinity facility later requires a new filing.
Prepare a Credential Evaluation Early
If your therapy degree is from outside the U.S., USCIS requires a course-by-course credential evaluation for H-1B petitions. Order this from a NACES-recognized evaluator well before your target start date, as turnaround can take several weeks.
Understand How TN Applies to Therapy Roles
Canadian and Mexican citizens working as physical therapists may qualify for TN status, which does not require H-1B lottery selection. Confirm with Trinity Health's immigration team whether your specific therapy discipline appears on the USMCA TN occupation list before pursuing this path.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Therapists?
Yes, Trinity Health sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Therapist roles. Because the H-1B requires the position to meet the specialty occupation standard, your therapy discipline and degree field both need to align with the role's requirements. Trinity Health's immigration team coordinates the Labor Condition Application with the DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS, but the process starts only after a formal offer is extended.
How do I apply for Therapist jobs at Trinity Health?
Applications go through Trinity Health's careers portal, where you can filter by job category and location. When reviewing postings, look for language indicating sponsorship eligibility or contact the recruiter directly to confirm before investing significant time in the application. Migrate Mate also lists Trinity Health Therapist openings filtered by visa type, which simplifies identifying roles open to international candidates.
Which visa types does Trinity Health commonly use for Therapist roles?
Trinity Health has sponsored Therapists across several categories, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, TN visa for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying therapy disciplines, J-1 visa for clinical exchange programs, and F-1 OPT or CPT for students completing therapy programs in the U.S. The appropriate visa depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific role. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are also available for longer-term permanent residence goals.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for sponsored Therapist positions?
Trinity Health generally requires a relevant master's or doctoral degree in your therapy discipline, active state licensure in the state where the role is located, and clinical experience appropriate to the setting, whether inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation. For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning the position must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles demanding specialized credentials, such as CCC-SLP for speech-language pathologists, carry stronger sponsorship cases.
How long does the sponsorship process typically take for a Therapist role at Trinity Health?
For H-1B petitions filed under standard processing, USCIS adjudication currently takes several months after the April 1 filing window opens. Premium processing, if elected, reduces that to roughly 15 business days. For TN status, Canadian citizens can often obtain approval at the border on the same day with proper documentation. Factor in the DOL's LCA certification timeline, typically seven to ten business days, before USCIS filing can begin.
