Finance And Accounting Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance and accounting in South Carolina?
Most finance and accounting roles in South Carolina require at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. For licensed CPA positions, candidates must pass the Uniform CPA Exam and meet the education and experience requirements set by the South Carolina Board of Accountancy, which administers licensure in the state. Many roles in financial analysis or corporate accounting do not require a CPA but favor candidates who are actively pursuing or have completed the designation.
Which companies hire finance and accountings in South Carolina?
Employers hiring finance and accountings in South Carolina right now include State of South Carolina, AFL, and Refuel Operating Company, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. South Carolina's mix of large manufacturers, regional bank branches, hospital systems, and state agencies creates consistent demand for accounting and finance professionals at multiple experience levels.
Which South Carolina cities have the most finance and accounting jobs?
The cities with the most finance and accounting openings in South Carolina are Lexington County, Duncan, and North Charleston. Columbia leads as the state capital and home to major insurers and government agencies, while Charleston's growing financial services and logistics sectors drive strong demand there, and Greenville's manufacturing base generates steady need for cost accountants and financial analysts.
Are there remote finance and accounting jobs in South Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields, since finance and accounting work is largely desk-based and data-driven. About 80% of finance and accounting openings tied to South Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader adoption among corporate finance teams and regional accounting firms. Roles in financial analysis, tax preparation, and management reporting tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions requiring on-site audit, payroll processing, or close coordination with operations teams are more likely to be in-person.
How can I get hired as a finance and accounting in South Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for staff accountant or accounting associate roles at South Carolina's large healthcare systems, manufacturers, or regional banks, which regularly hire recent graduates from programs at the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, or the College of Charleston. Internship-to-hire pipelines at firms like Elliott Davis or Dixon Hughes Goodman, both active in South Carolina, are another concrete route. Sitting for the CPA exam while in an entry role or obtaining a bookkeeping certification gives candidates a measurable edge over other applicants with similar experience levels.
