Finance And Accounting Jobs in Wyoming: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance and accounting professional in Wyoming?
Most finance and accounting roles in Wyoming require at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. For CPA licensure, candidates apply through the Wyoming Board of Certified Public Accountants, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam, meeting Wyoming's education requirements, and completing supervised experience hours. Non-CPA roles in corporate accounting or financial analysis typically require a relevant degree and demonstrated proficiency in accounting software, with employer-specific certifications often added over time.
Which companies hire finance and accountings in Wyoming?
Wyoming finance and accounting roles are posted by Ryder System, State of Wyoming, and Humana and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The state's energy, government, and higher education sectors are particularly active hiring areas for finance and accounting professionals across Wyoming.
Which Wyoming cities have the most finance and accounting jobs?
Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Casper account for the most finance and accounting openings in Wyoming. Cheyenne's concentration of state government agencies and financial services firms drives the largest share, while Casper's energy industry supports strong demand for corporate accountants and financial analysts, and Laramie benefits from the University of Wyoming's administrative and research finance functions.
Are there remote finance and accounting jobs in Wyoming?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of finance and accounting openings tied to Wyoming are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well desk-based analytical and reporting work translates to distributed settings. Roles in financial analysis, bookkeeping, and tax preparation tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while on-site presence is more commonly required for controller, audit, and government finance positions.
How can I get hired as a finance and accounting professional in Wyoming with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for staff accountant or accounting assistant roles at Wyoming state agencies, county governments, or the University of Wyoming, all of which regularly hire candidates straight out of degree programs. Lateral moves from payroll, accounts payable, or bookkeeping positions are a common door-opener. Pursuing CPA exam eligibility early signals commitment to Wyoming employers, and internship programs offered through University of Wyoming's College of Business help candidates build local experience before graduating.
Where can I find and apply to finance and accounting jobs in Wyoming?
