Industrial Sales Manager Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a industrial sales manager in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a technical field alongside direct sales experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial equipment. Indiana does not require a state-issued license for industrial sales managers, so the path typically runs from inside sales or technical sales representative roles into management. Building product knowledge in automation, fluid power, or heavy equipment and earning manufacturer certifications relevant to your product line strengthens a candidacy considerably.
How much do industrial sales managers make in Indiana?
Industrial sales managers in Indiana earn a median of about $131,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,570 for the lowest 10% to over $231,350 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire industrial sales managers in Indiana?
Employers hiring industrial sales managers in Indiana right now include SunSource, Culligan Ultrapure, and Graybar, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's dense concentration of manufacturing and distribution operations means hiring activity tends to be most consistent around Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and the broader northern Indiana corridor where suppliers and OEM partners are based.
Which Indiana cities have the most industrial sales manager jobs?
The cities with the most industrial sales manager openings in Indiana are Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Valparaiso. Indianapolis leads because it serves as the state's logistics and corporate headquarters hub, while Fort Wayne and South Bend draw hiring from the automotive, precision parts, and industrial distribution companies that anchor northern Indiana's economy.
Are there remote industrial sales manager jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Industrial sales management is a relationship-driven, field-heavy role that typically requires in-person client visits, plant walk-throughs, and hands-on product demonstrations. About 71% of industrial sales manager openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to cover account management or inside sales coordination functions rather than full territory leadership roles.
How can I get hired as a industrial sales manager in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales or sales development role at an Indiana distributor or manufacturer, where you build product knowledge and customer relationships before moving into territory management. Companies like Cummins and regional industrial distributors based in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne regularly promote from within. Earning a manufacturer-sponsored product certification, even as an associate candidate, signals technical credibility and gives you a concrete edge when applying for your first management opportunity.
Where can I find and apply to industrial sales manager jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to industrial sales manager jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and target territory, and apply directly through the listing. No sign-up is needed to see what is currently posted.
