Industrial Sales Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a industrial sales manager in California?
Most California employers require a bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or business combined with field sales experience in a technical or manufacturing environment. California does not require a state-issued license for industrial sales managers, so the path focuses on building product expertise and a verifiable record of B2B account growth. Certifications from organizations like the Manufacturers' Representatives Educational Research Foundation can sharpen competitiveness in the California market.
How much do industrial sales managers make in California?
Industrial sales managers in California earn a median of about $134,910 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,430 for the lowest 10% to over $300,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire industrial sales managers in California?
Employers hiring industrial sales managers in California right now include ABM Industries, ABM Industries, and Mohawk Industries, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's deep manufacturing base in aerospace, semiconductors, and agriculture equipment means both global industrial companies and regional distributors post consistently throughout the year.
Which California cities have the most industrial sales manager jobs?
Sacramento, City of Industry, and Hawthorne lead California for industrial sales manager openings. Los Angeles anchors the market with its large aerospace and logistics manufacturing base, the Bay Area draws roles tied to semiconductor and automation companies, and San Diego supports openings through its defense manufacturing and biomedical equipment sectors, making each city's concentration a direct reflection of its dominant industrial economy.
Are there remote industrial sales manager jobs in California?
Yes, but they're limited. Industrial sales managers typically need to visit customer facilities, demonstrate equipment, and manage accounts in person, which keeps most roles field-based or hybrid. About 18% of industrial sales manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The portions of the role most likely to be performed remotely include pipeline reporting, proposal writing, and internal strategy calls.
How can I get hired as a industrial sales manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an inside sales or sales engineer associate role at a California industrial distributor or manufacturer, then building toward a territory management position. Large California employers in automation and manufacturing equipment often bring on associate territory representatives who shadow senior managers before taking their own accounts. A technical degree in engineering or industrial technology, combined with any hands-on exposure through co-ops or internships at California-based manufacturers, is the credential that most accelerates that transition.
Where can I find and apply to industrial sales manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to industrial sales manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across the state's major industrial hiring markets. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and preferred location, and apply directly to each employer.
