Industrial Sales Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a industrial sales manager in New York?
Most industrial sales managers in New York enter through a technical or business degree followed by a few years in field sales or distribution roles. New York does not require a state-issued license for industrial sales managers, so credentials like a Certified Sales Professional designation or an engineering background carry the most weight with hiring teams. Large manufacturers and distributors based in the New York City metro, Buffalo, and the Hudson Valley corridor typically hire from industrial distribution, capital equipment, or technical sales backgrounds.
How much do industrial sales managers make in New York?
Industrial sales managers in New York earn a median of about $217,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,670 for the lowest 10% to over $378,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire industrial sales managers in New York?
Employers hiring industrial sales managers in New York right now include Mohawk Industries, AFC Industries, and Anthropic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of manufacturing facilities, infrastructure projects, and energy utilities makes it a strong hiring market for companies selling automation, process equipment, and industrial supplies.
Which New York cities have the most industrial sales manager jobs?
Farmingdale, Garden City, and Maspeth have the most industrial sales manager openings in New York. New York City anchors demand through its large commercial real estate, utilities, and facilities sectors, while Buffalo and Rochester draw hiring from advanced manufacturing and automation firms that operate across the Great Lakes industrial corridor.
Are there remote industrial sales manager jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Industrial sales management involves frequent client site visits, product demonstrations, and hands-on territory coverage that is difficult to do fully remotely. About 17% of industrial sales manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those roles are typically in inside sales or national account management rather than field territory positions.
How can I get hired as a industrial sales manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales or sales development role at an industrial distributor, then moving into field sales once you know the product lines and customer base. Companies like Grainger, Fastenal, and regional automation distributors operating across the New York City metro and upstate markets run structured associate sales programs that train candidates without prior industry experience. A technical degree or an engineering background gives you a strong edge even with no sales history.
Where can I find and apply to industrial sales manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to industrial sales manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and preferred location, and apply directly to each opening from the listing.
