Position Summary
The Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating drivers, crews, shipments, equipment, and daily schedules. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and the ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily schedules for drivers, helpers, crews, and moving shipments
- Dispatch crews and communicate daily assignments, schedules, and special instructions
- Monitor shipments throughout the move process and address scheduling or operational issues
- Communicate with drivers, customers, customer service representatives, sales staff, and other internal departments
- Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments
- Monitor driver and crew availability, hours, locations, and assignments
- Arrange equipment, vehicles, labor, and other resources as needed
- Update and maintain accurate information in company systems
- Review dispatch instructions and ensure important customer and shipment details are communicated to crews
- Assist with resolving service issues, delays, and last-minute changes
- Track shipment status and follow up on outstanding operational items
- Ensure company and van-line procedures are followed
- Assist management with other operational duties as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, moving, or a related field preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with drivers, customers, and internal staff
- Comfortable working with computers and multiple software systems
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems quickly
- Previous experience with household goods moving or transportation is a plus
