Sales Account Manager Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales account manager in Michigan?
Most Michigan employers require at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, though candidates with associate degrees and strong sales experience are regularly considered. Sales account managers in Michigan do not require a state-issued license. The practical path is to start in an inside sales, sales development, or account coordinator role at a Michigan company, build a measurable pipeline record, and move into a full account management position. Certifications from organizations like the Sales Management Association can sharpen your candidacy for competitive openings.
How much do sales account managers make in Michigan?
Sales account managers in Michigan earn a median of about $136,870 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,790 for the lowest 10% to over $230,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales account managers in Michigan?
Employers hiring sales account managers in Michigan right now include T-Mobile, SunSource, and Verizon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's deep automotive and advanced manufacturing base means many of these employers are looking specifically for candidates familiar with OEM relationships, supplier sales cycles, or industrial distribution channels.
Which Michigan cities have the most sales account manager jobs?
Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Livonia have the most sales account manager openings in Michigan. Detroit leads because of its dense concentration of automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and corporate headquarters, while Grand Rapids draws from West Michigan's manufacturing and healthcare device industries, and Ann Arbor reflects demand from the University of Michigan research corridor and its surrounding technology and life sciences employers.
Are there remote sales account manager jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than many field roles, since account management at established companies increasingly allows remote work for relationship maintenance and administrative tasks. About 68% of sales account manager openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though in-territory travel requirements still apply to most positions. Fully remote roles tend to appear most often in enterprise software, SaaS, and national account management functions where the territory is defined by industry vertical rather than geographic proximity.
How can I get hired as a sales account manager in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or inside sales role at a Michigan company, where you build pipeline skills before transitioning into account ownership. Large Michigan employers like Stryker and automotive suppliers regularly run new-grad rotational or associate sales programs that place candidates without prior account management experience into structured development tracks. Adjacent roles in customer success, retail sales, and territory coordination at Michigan distributors or dealerships also transfer directly. Completing a recognized sales certification and building a portfolio of measurable outcomes from any client-facing role gives your application a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to sales account manager jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to sales account manager jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings across industries including automotive, healthcare, technology, and manufacturing. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to each employer through the listing.
