Sales Account Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales account manager in New York?
Most sales account manager roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license applies to the role itself. Employers in New York's financial services sector may expect candidates to hold FINRA Series 63 or Series 65 registrations if the role involves securities-adjacent products. Building experience in a related New York industry, such as SaaS, media, or healthcare, and demonstrating quota attainment are the most direct paths to securing an account manager position.
How much do sales account managers make in New York?
Sales account managers in New York earn a median of about $217,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,670 for the lowest 10% to over $378,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales account managers in New York?
Employers hiring sales account managers in New York right now include GameStop, State Farm, and Finish Line, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of Fortune 500 headquarters, major financial institutions, and technology firms means demand for account managers is spread across multiple industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most sales account manager jobs?
The cities with the most sales account manager openings in New York are New York, Albany, and Brooklyn. New York City accounts for the largest share by far, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and media companies, while Buffalo and Albany attract hiring from regional enterprise accounts, healthcare systems, and state government contractors.
Are there remote sales account manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, since sales account management is primarily a communication and relationship-driven role that can often be performed without a fixed office. About 19% of sales account manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Prospecting, pipeline management, and internal reporting are the functions most commonly performed remotely, while enterprise or complex deals often require in-person client meetings in New York City.
How can I get hired as a sales account manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a sales development representative or business development representative role at a New York-based technology or media company, where structured training programs are common. Employers like IBM, Oracle, and major SaaS firms with New York offices run associate sales programs that hire candidates without direct account management experience. A FINRA Series 63 registration gives candidates an edge for roles in financial services, and demonstrated experience in adjacent roles such as customer success, inside sales, or retail management strengthens any application.
Where can I find and apply to sales account manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to sales account manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, Buffalo, Albany, and other markets statewide. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience, industry focus, and preferred work arrangement, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
