Sales Business Development Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales business development in Massachusetts?
Most sales business development roles in Massachusetts require a bachelor's degree and do not carry a state-issued license or registration. Employers across Boston's technology corridor and the Route 128 biotech belt typically look for candidates with a background in business, marketing, or a relevant industry vertical such as life sciences or fintech. Building familiarity with CRM tools, completing employer-sponsored sales training programs, and gaining experience in inside sales or account management are the most direct paths into the role.
How much do sales business developments make in Massachusetts?
Sales business developments in Massachusetts earn a median of about $79,810 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,940 for the lowest 10% to over $157,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales business developments in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring sales business developments in Massachusetts right now include State Street, BDA, and Arka HR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of technology, biotech, and financial services firms means demand for business development talent is consistent across both established enterprises and growth-stage companies headquartered in and around Greater Boston.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most sales business development jobs?
Boston, Waltham, and Massachusetts have the most sales business development openings in Massachusetts. Boston drives the highest volume as the state's commercial core, home to major technology, financial services, and healthcare headquarters, while Cambridge's biotech and life sciences cluster and Waltham's dense Route 128 tech corridor generate consistent demand outside the city center.
Are there remote sales business development jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 50% of sales business development openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's strong fit for distributed work when prospects are engaged digitally. Strategic and inside business development functions, including outbound prospecting and account management for SaaS or fintech products, are the segments most commonly listed as fully remote or hybrid.
How can I get hired as a sales business development in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a Sales Development Representative or Business Development Representative role, which large Massachusetts employers use as structured on-ramps for candidates new to the field. Technology companies along the Route 128 corridor and in Boston's Seaport and Kendall Square neighborhoods regularly hire for these positions with formal sales training included. A background in customer service, retail account management, or marketing provides a strong lateral foundation, and a Salesforce certification or comparable CRM credential can give early-career applicants a meaningful edge.
Where can I find and apply to sales business development jobs in Massachusetts?
