Sales Consultant Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales consultant in Ohio?
The path into sales consulting in Ohio depends on the industry. For the largest segment of the market, insurance sales, Ohio requires a state-issued producer license from the Ohio Department of Insurance, which involves completing a pre-licensing course and passing a state exam. For non-insurance roles in financial products or real estate, separate Ohio-specific licenses apply. For general B2B or retail sales, a bachelor's degree and a demonstrated sales record are the standard entry requirements.
Which companies hire sales consultants in Ohio?
Employers hiring sales consultants in Ohio right now include Prime Communications, Victra-Verizon Authorized Retailer, and Jeff Wyler Automotive Family, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's concentration of insurance carriers, manufacturing firms, and financial services companies means demand stays steady throughout the year across both large corporations and regional businesses.
Which Ohio cities have the most sales consultant jobs?
Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton have the most sales consultant openings in Ohio. Columbus dominates as the state capital and a major insurance and financial services hub anchored by employers like Nationwide and OhioHealth, while Cleveland's industrial and healthcare economy and Cincinnati's consumer goods and logistics base drive strong demand in those metros as well.
Are there remote sales consultant jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 22% of sales consultant openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves phone, video, and digital outreach rather than in-person visits. Inside sales and SaaS account management positions are the most likely to be fully remote, while territory-based and automotive roles typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a sales consultant in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an inside sales representative or sales development representative role, which large Ohio employers in insurance and financial services use as structured pipelines for new talent. Nationwide Insurance and Progressive both run rotational and associate sales programs in Columbus and Cleveland that are open to recent graduates. Obtaining your Ohio insurance producer license before applying gives candidates without experience a concrete credential that signals readiness to employers and reduces their onboarding cost.
Where can I find and apply to sales consultant jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to sales consultant jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings updated regularly. Find roles that match your experience level and target industry, then apply directly to the employers posting them. No account is required to view and apply to the listings on the page.
