Sales Consultant Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales consultant in Tennessee?
Most sales consultant roles in Tennessee require at minimum a high school diploma, though a bachelor's degree in business or marketing strengthens your candidacy for B2B and healthcare sales positions. Tennessee does not require a general state-issued sales license for most consultant roles, but automotive sales consultants must obtain a dealer-issued license through their employing dealership registered with the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Commission. Insurance sales consultants must pass the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance licensing exam.
Which companies hire sales consultants in Tennessee?
Employers hiring sales consultants in Tennessee right now include Prime Communications, Cellular Sales, Verizon Authorized Retailer, and CarMax, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's mix of large healthcare systems, automotive manufacturers, and regional financial institutions creates steady and varied demand for sales consultant talent across the state.
Which Tennessee cities have the most sales consultant jobs?
Nashville, Memphis, and Franklin lead Tennessee for sales consultant openings. Nashville dominates due to its concentration of healthcare companies, corporate headquarters, and financial services firms, while Memphis draws demand from logistics and regional retail operations, and Knoxville benefits from proximity to manufacturing employers and a growing technology sector that regularly recruits B2B sales consultants.
Are there remote sales consultant jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and they are more common than in many other fields. About 44% of sales consultant openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's compatibility with phone and video-based client management. Inside sales and software solutions consultant roles are the positions most likely to offer fully remote arrangements within Tennessee.
How can I get hired as a sales consultant in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for sales development representative or retail sales associate roles at large Tennessee employers such as HCA Healthcare's revenue cycle divisions, AutoNation dealerships, or regional insurance agencies affiliated with companies like Tennessee Farmers Mutual. These organizations run structured onboarding and mentorship programs designed for candidates without prior sales experience. Earning a Salesforce certification or completing a community college business program at institutions like Nashville State gives early-career candidates a concrete advantage.
