Sales Manager Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales manager in Indiana?
Most Indiana employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with several years of field sales experience. Indiana does not require a state-issued license to work as a sales manager in most industries, though those selling insurance or financial products must hold an Indiana Department of Insurance producer license or a relevant FINRA registration. Candidates who build a record of meeting quotas as individual contributors and take on informal team-lead duties move into management roles most reliably.
How much do sales managers make in Indiana?
Sales managers in Indiana earn a median of about $131,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,570 for the lowest 10% to over $231,350 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales managers in Indiana?
Employers hiring sales managers in Indiana right now include AutoZone, Ulta, and Keurig Dr Pepper, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's mix of large manufacturing headquarters, regional healthcare systems, and financial services firms creates consistent demand for sales managers at both the individual-territory and multi-team director levels.
Which Indiana cities have the most sales manager jobs?
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Evansville lead Indiana for sales manager openings. Indianapolis dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters in pharma, tech distribution, and financial services, while Fort Wayne and South Bend generate consistent demand through their manufacturing and regional healthcare employer bases, which run their own dedicated sales and account management functions.
Are there remote sales manager jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields because sales manager roles often require in-person coaching, client visits, and territory coverage. About 39% of sales manager openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with most of those positions concentrated in software, SaaS, and financial services where the entire sales cycle can run digitally.
How can I get hired as a sales manager in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a sales development representative or account executive role first, then moving into a team-lead position within two to three years. Indiana employers such as Salesforce's Indianapolis office, Cummins, and regional insurance carriers like OneAmerica run structured associate sales programs that develop talent from within. Earning an Indiana Department of Insurance producer license before applying gives candidates a measurable edge for roles in financial services and benefits sales, two of the state's most active hiring categories.
Where can I find and apply to sales manager jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to sales manager jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated regularly. Search the roles that match your industry background and seniority level, then apply directly to the ones that fit your experience and target market.
