Job Summary
The Staff Accountant - Advancement Services is central to the effectiveness of the financial accounting and reporting for the Georgia Southern University Foundation and Athletic Foundation and will perform functions related to accounts payable, review and analysis of general ledger activity, financial report generation and analysis, accounting research and problem resolution, reconciliation processes, and operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable functions, including review and processing of invoice requests, check printing, vendor maintenance, and setup and training of users for web invoicing
- Administer and maintain general ledger activity
- Perform tax compliance processes for 1099 reporting and use tax
- Effectively communicate responses to accounting work requests
- Provide regular weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports as requested
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with team members, faculty and staff to ensure proper procedures are in compliance with necessary standards and internal controls
- Set up and maintain user access to financial reporting systems, and provide user training
- Analyze, manage, and record Foundation investment data
- Complete reconciliation and analysis for accounts payable, general ledger, bank statements, fixed assets and investments
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting
Required Experience
- Two (2) or more years of experience in accounting field
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge experience
- Experience with online banking platforms, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and pivot tables and other analytical tools
Proposed Salary
$58,000 - $61,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

- Ability to identify issues related to auditing, fiscal procedures, account structures, reports and accounting systems
- Ability to interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation

- Ability to professionally interact with various levels of faculty and staff personnel while adhering to Institutional, State, and Federal laws, policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information to develop new business processes
KNOWLEDGE
- Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
- Familiar with and apply General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), competencies with accounting and other systems, financial and budget applications and reporting conventions
- Knowledge of accounting theories and principles and systems design
- Current knowledge of accounting processes and standards to consistently serve as a resource
