Which education employers in Wyoming sponsor H-1B visas?
The University of Wyoming in Laramie is the most consistent H-1B sponsor in the state's education sector, filing petitions for faculty, researchers, and professional staff. Wyoming's community college system, including Casper College and Laramie County Community College, also sponsors H-1B workers on a more limited basis, typically for specialized instructional or research roles where qualified U.S. candidates are scarce.
Which cities in Wyoming have the most education H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Laramie accounts for the largest share of education H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wyoming, driven almost entirely by the University of Wyoming's presence as the state's flagship research institution. Cheyenne and Casper follow at a distance, supported by community college campuses and some K-12 district administrative roles. Wyoming is a small state, so overall volume is limited compared to states with larger higher education systems.
What types of education roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Wyoming?
Roles that consistently qualify require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific academic field directly related to the position. In Wyoming's education sector, that includes tenure-track and visiting faculty positions, postdoctoral research roles, academic advisors with specialized credentials, and instructional design professionals. General teaching assistant or adjunct roles without a clear degree-to-job-field connection are less likely to meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
How do I find education H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wyoming?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings specifically by visa type and state, making it straightforward to browse education H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wyoming without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. Because Wyoming's market is small, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate ensures you're notified when new qualifying positions are posted at institutions like the University of Wyoming or the state's community colleges.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Wyoming's education sector?
Wyoming's education job market is smaller and less active than in states with multiple large universities, so H-1B opportunities are more concentrated and less frequent. Most sponsoring institutions are public, meaning hiring timelines follow academic calendar cycles, with the majority of faculty and research positions posted between January and April. Prevailing wage determinations in Wyoming may reflect regional cost-of-living differences compared to coastal markets.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B education jobs in Wyoming?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
