Repair Technician Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Repair technicians face limited H-1B visa options because most general repair roles do not require specific degrees, but specialized equipment repair technicians at GE Healthcare, Siemens, Applied Materials, and Honeywell who service medical imaging systems, semiconductor tools, industrial automation, and avionics find viable sponsorship when positions require engineering technology degrees. EB-3 skilled worker green card sponsorship provides the most accessible pathway for experienced repair technicians with manufacturer certifications, giving permanent residency through employers who demonstrate unsuccessful domestic recruitment.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Repair Technician
Medical Equipment Repair Has the Strongest Sponsorship Track Record
GE Healthcare, Siemens Healthineers, Philips, and Canon Medical sponsor biomedical equipment repair technicians who service MRI, CT, ultrasound, and surgical systems. These positions require biomedical engineering technology degrees or manufacturer training and pay $60,000 to $100,000.
Semiconductor Equipment Repair Is in Acute Demand
Applied Materials, Lam Research, KLA, ASML, and Tokyo Electron sponsor for technicians repairing deposition, etch, and lithography tools at U.S. fabs. CHIPS Act expansion has created thousands of equipment maintenance positions that manufacturers cannot fill domestically.
EB-3 Skilled Worker Is the Most Accessible Visa Pathway
Repair technicians with manufacturer certifications and two or more years of documented experience qualify for EB-3 skilled worker green card sponsorship. The process takes 2 to 4 years but leads directly to permanent residency without requiring a bachelor's degree.
Manufacturer Certifications Make You Irreplaceable
Factory training from GE Healthcare, FANUC, ABB, Siemens, Daikin, Carrier, or Applied Materials certifies you as an authorized repair provider. Employers invest in sponsorship because certified technicians require 6 to 18 months of factory training to replace.
Data Center Hardware Repair Is Growing Rapidly
Amazon AWS, Google, Microsoft, and Meta need technicians repairing servers, networking equipment, and power infrastructure at data centers expanding nationwide. These positions pay $50,000 to $78,000 with shift differentials and have increasing sponsorship precedent.
Target Engineer-Titled Positions for H-1B Eligibility
Roles titled Field Service Engineer or Equipment Maintenance Engineer at the same companies doing the same repair work carry degree requirements that support H-1B classification. Always pursue engineer titles rather than technician titles when applying for positions.

Can repair technicians get visa sponsorship in the U.S.?
Yes, through specific pathways. Medical and semiconductor equipment repair technicians with engineering technology degrees qualify for H-1B at GE Healthcare and Applied Materials. EB-3 skilled worker green card sponsorship is available for experienced technicians through employers proving domestic recruitment failure.
What is the typical salary for sponsored Repair Technician roles?
General repair technicians earn $38,000 to $55,000. Biomedical equipment repair technicians earn $58,000 to $98,000. Semiconductor equipment repair technicians earn $55,000 to $85,000. Data center hardware technicians earn $48,000 to $76,000 with shift differentials.
Which industries sponsor Repair Technicians most frequently?
Medical device companies lead with established sponsorship for imaging equipment repair. Semiconductor equipment manufacturers sponsor heavily due to CHIPS Act demand. Data center operators sponsor for hardware maintenance. Industrial automation companies sponsor for robotics and controls repair.
What qualifications improve a Repair Technician's sponsorship prospects?
An engineering technology degree opens the H-1B pathway for engineer-titled repair roles. Manufacturer-specific certifications from GE, Applied Materials, FANUC, or Siemens demonstrate specialized expertise. For EB-3, documented trade credentials and two-plus years of experience are required.
What is the career progression for a sponsored Repair Technician?
The path moves from repair technician to senior technician to field service engineer to team lead to regional service manager. Regional managers earn $95,000 to $140,000 at major equipment companies. Some technicians transition into applications engineering, technical training, or quality assurance.
