Account Director Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account director in Tennessee?
Account director roles in Tennessee do not require a state-issued license, so the path centers on education and experience. Most Tennessee employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, combined with several years in account management or client services. Building tenure in Tennessee's dominant industries, particularly healthcare, logistics, or technology consulting, accelerates the path. Demonstrating measurable client retention and revenue growth is the clearest differentiator when competing for director-level roles.
How much do account directors make in Tennessee?
Account directors in Tennessee earn a median of about $60,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,900 for the lowest 10% to over $115,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account directors in Tennessee?
Employers hiring account directors in Tennessee right now include Mindgruve, CVS Health, and Dollar General, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of healthcare systems, freight and logistics firms, and technology companies means demand for experienced account directors remains consistent throughout the year.
Which Tennessee cities have the most account director jobs?
Tennessee, Nashville, and Bells lead Tennessee for account director openings. Nashville drives the largest share because it anchors the state's healthcare, technology, and professional services sectors, while Memphis generates demand through its logistics and financial services firms, and Knoxville adds openings tied to its manufacturing and regional corporate headquarters presence.
Are there remote account director jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, since account director work is client-relationship-focused rather than physically hands-on. About 100% of account director openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader industry flexibility in this function. Strategic account planning, reporting, and internal coordination tend to be the most remote-compatible parts of the role.
How can I get hired as a account director in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an account manager or senior account executive role at a Tennessee-based company, using that position to build a client portfolio before moving into a director title. Large Tennessee employers in healthcare and logistics frequently hire associate account managers or rotational business development trainees as structured starting points. Earning a CRM certification and building a record of measurable client outcomes, even in smaller accounts, strengthens a candidacy significantly. Lateral moves from customer success, inside sales, or client services roles at Tennessee firms are a common bridge.
