Align your credentials with specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility for Sales Professional roles requires demonstrating the position demands a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. Document how your field of study directly supports automotive parts distribution, account management, or B2B sales strategy before applying.
Target NAPA-brand roles within GPC's network
Genuine Parts Company operates primarily through its NAPA Auto Parts distribution channels. Prioritize Sales Professional openings tied to NAPA's commercial or wholesale accounts, where sponsorship activity tends to follow structured regional hiring rather than one-off backfills.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active sponsored openings
GPC posts Sales Professional roles across dozens of markets simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Genuine Parts Company positions that have sponsorship history, so you're applying to roles with a verified pathway rather than guessing from a general job board.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility early
F-1 OPT is a practical bridge into a GPC Sales Professional role, but automotive distribution is not a STEM-designated field. Confirm with your DSO whether your specific degree qualifies for a STEM extension before building a timeline that assumes 36 months of OPT coverage.
Request the LCA before accepting a verbal offer
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition. Ask HR to confirm LCA preparation is underway once you receive an offer, so the certified wage level and worksite details are locked in before your start date.
Prepare territory-specific sales documentation for PERM
If GPC pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card for you, the PERM process requires demonstrating no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific role. Maintain records of your assigned territory, account relationships, and any specialized automotive product training that differentiates your position.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Genuine Parts Company sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Professionals?
Yes, Genuine Parts Company has a consistent record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Sales Professional roles. The key requirement is that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning the role must typically require a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles tied to commercial account management or technical product sales within GPC's automotive distribution network tend to meet that threshold more readily than general retail sales positions.
Which visa types does Genuine Parts Company commonly use for Sales Professional roles?
GPC supports a range of visa categories for Sales Professionals, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. F-1 OPT and TN visas are often used as entry points, with H-1B sponsorship following for longer-term employment. Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying sales or business degrees can pursue TN status without the H-1B lottery.
What qualifications does Genuine Parts Company expect from Sales Professional candidates?
GPC typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, supply chain, or a related field, combined with B2B or wholesale sales experience. For visa sponsorship purposes, the degree-to-role alignment matters: your academic background should connect directly to automotive parts distribution, account management, or commercial sales strategy. Familiarity with ERP systems and territory management strengthens both your candidacy and your sponsorship case.
How do I apply for Sales Professional jobs at Genuine Parts Company?
You can browse and apply for Sales Professional openings at Genuine Parts Company through Migrate Mate, which surfaces GPC roles with confirmed sponsorship history so you know the position has a real pathway before you invest time applying. GPC posts roles across multiple regions simultaneously, so filtering by location and sponsorship type helps you prioritize. Apply directly through the employer's official application portal once you identify a matching role.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Genuine Parts Company?
The H-1B process runs on a fixed federal timeline. USCIS opens registration in March, the lottery runs in late March, and approved petitions can be filed starting April 1 for an October 1 start date. That means you'll need an offer finalized by February to give GPC's HR and legal teams time to prepare. Premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication time to 15 business days once the petition is filed, but the lottery itself cannot be expedited.
