Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding NP Jobs at University of Utah Jobs
Align your NP licensure before applying
Utah requires a current, unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license to work as an NP. Start the Utah APRN licensure process early, as delays in state board processing can stall both your offer timeline and visa filing.
Target university health system postings directly
University of Utah Health posts NP openings through its own careers portal, separate from the main university jobs site. Filtering by clinical department, like oncology or primary care, surfaces openings that align with your specialty and are more likely to include sponsorship.
Clarify the LCA wage tier during negotiations
For H-1B filings, DOL requires the employer to pay at least the prevailing wage for your NP role in the Salt Lake City area. Confirm which wage level your offer corresponds to before signing, as this affects both your salary floor and the petition's compliance.
Use Migrate Mate to track open NP roles
University of Utah regularly posts NP positions across multiple specialties. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can prioritize roles where your specific visa category, whether H-1B, E-3, or TN, has active precedent.
Prepare a credentials file before your first interview
University of Utah's HR team typically requests verified transcripts, ANCC or AANP certification proof, and DEA registration eligibility as part of clinical onboarding. Having these documents ready shortens the time between offer acceptance and visa petition filing.
Ask HR which immigration counsel they use
Universities with established sponsorship programs typically work with a preferred immigration law firm to manage I-129 petitions. Knowing which firm handles University of Utah's filings lets you prepare for their specific documentation requests and avoid delays from incomplete submissions.

Find NP at University of Utah JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does University of Utah sponsor H-1B visas for NPs?
Yes, University of Utah sponsors H-1B visas for NP roles. As a large academic medical institution and cap-exempt employer, the university can file H-1B petitions outside the annual lottery. That means USCIS can receive and approve petitions year-round, which is a significant advantage for NPs who cannot wait for a cap-subject slot.
How do I apply for NP jobs at University of Utah?
Applications go through the University of Utah Health careers portal, where NP positions are listed by clinical specialty. Create a profile, upload your resume, APRN certification, and licensure documentation, and apply directly to each posting. For roles requiring sponsorship, indicate your visa status early in the process so HR can route your application appropriately.
Which visa types does University of Utah commonly use for NP roles?
University of Utah has sponsored NPs on H-1B, E-3, TN, and J-1 visas, as well as supported F-1 OPT extensions for recent graduates in advanced practice programs. H-1B is the most common pathway for long-term employment. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3, and Canadian or Mexican citizens should explore the TN visa under USMCA.
What qualifications does University of Utah expect for NP candidates?
Most NP postings require a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, a current Utah APRN license, and board certification through ANCC or AANP in a relevant specialty. Clinical experience requirements vary by department, but acute care and specialty roles typically expect prior experience in that setting rather than general clinical hours alone.
How do I find NP roles at University of Utah that include visa sponsorship?
Visa sponsorship eligibility is not always listed explicitly in job postings, which makes it hard to know which roles are worth pursuing. Migrate Mate lets you browse University of Utah NP openings filtered by visa type, so you can focus your applications on positions where sponsorship for your specific category has already been documented.
