Frame your insurance credentials for U.S. employers
Property and casualty or life insurance licenses from outside the U.S. don't transfer automatically. Research which state licenses USI operates under and clarify in your application whether you're prepared to sit for those exams after starting.
Target USI's regional office hiring patterns
USI operates through a decentralized model with regional profit centers making their own hiring decisions. Identify which regional offices have active Sales Business Development openings and tailor your outreach to those local leaders, not just corporate HR.
Confirm visa eligibility before the offer stage
USI has sponsored E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visas for roles in this function. Before you reach the offer stage, confirm your visa category fits the role's employment structure so there's no delay when legal review begins.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles efficiently
Sales Business Development openings at USI span dozens of locations and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter active USI postings by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Prepare a book-of-business narrative early
USI interviewers for sales roles consistently probe whether candidates can bring or develop client revenue. Build a concrete story around your pipeline experience, client relationships, or producer metrics before your first screening call, not during offer negotiations.
Understand how OPT timing affects your start date
F-1 OPT authorization requires a DSO-issued I-20 update and USCIS processing that can take 90 days or more. If you're relying on OPT to start at USI, request authorization from your DSO as soon as you have a likely offer timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does USI Insurance Services sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Business Developments?
USI Insurance Services' documented sponsorship activity for Sales Business Development roles includes E-3 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visas. H-1B visa sponsorship is not reflected in their recent filings for this specific function. If H-1B is your required pathway, clarify directly with USI's hiring team during the offer stage, as sponsorship decisions can vary by role and region.
How do I apply for Sales Business Development jobs at USI Insurance Services?
You can find and apply for Sales Business Development roles at USI Insurance Services through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters USI postings by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your materials to USI's insurance brokerage focus, emphasizing client development experience, any existing producer relationships, and your ability to obtain state insurance licenses required in the target market.
Which visa types are commonly used for Sales Business Development roles at USI Insurance Services?
USI has sponsored E-3 visas for Australian citizens, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing eligible degree programs. J-1 visas have also been used for this function. The right visa depends on your citizenship, education status, and the specific role structure. E-3 and TN are generally the most straightforward paths for eligible nationals in a sales position.
What qualifications and experience does USI Insurance Services expect for Sales Business Development roles?
USI typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, combined with demonstrable sales or client-facing experience. Insurance industry knowledge, familiarity with property and casualty or employee benefits products, and an ability to develop new business are weighted heavily. State insurance licensing is often required post-hire, and prior producer or account executive experience strengthens any application significantly.
How do I manage visa timing when accepting a Sales Business Development offer from USI Insurance Services?
Timing depends on your visa category. E-3 and TN visas can often be processed in weeks through consular channels, while F-1 OPT requires USCIS processing of up to 90 days after your DSO submits the application. Align your anticipated start date with USI's HR team early so the legal review and any DOL Labor Condition Application filings for E-3 can begin without delaying your onboarding.
