Enterprise Account Director Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a enterprise account director in California?
Becoming an enterprise account director in California typically follows a path from individual contributor sales roles through senior account executive or strategic account manager positions before stepping into a director title. California employers in software, cloud, and fintech generally require a bachelor's degree and a track of progressively larger enterprise deals. No state-issued license applies to this role, but certifications from organizations like Salesforce or AWS carry real weight with California hiring managers in technology-heavy sectors.
How much do enterprise account directors make in California?
Enterprise account directors in California earn a median of about $80,850 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,240 for the lowest 10% to over $168,720 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire enterprise account directors in California?
Employers hiring enterprise account directors in California right now include Amazon Web Services, Klaviyo, and Braze, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's density of enterprise software and cloud companies means that both established technology giants and fast-scaling SaaS firms maintain active enterprise sales leadership teams across the state year-round.
Which California cities have the most enterprise account director jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and California have the most enterprise account director openings in California. San Francisco dominates because of its concentration of enterprise software headquarters and venture-backed SaaS companies, Los Angeles draws from media technology and healthcare IT employers, and San Diego's strong defense technology and biotech sectors keep enterprise sales leadership roles consistently active in that market.
Are there remote enterprise account director jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 71% of enterprise account director openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves virtual executive meetings and digital account management rather than on-site presence. Strategic account planning, executive business reviews, and pipeline management are the parts of the role most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a enterprise account director in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a senior account executive or strategic account manager role at a California-based technology or SaaS company. Large California employers like Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Workday run structured sales development and account management programs that build the skills directors need. Earning a Salesforce Administrator or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification strengthens a candidate's profile, and internal promotions from enterprise sales teams are consistently the most common route into first director titles across the state.
Where can I find and apply to enterprise account director jobs in California?
You can find and apply to enterprise account director jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and target industry, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
