Enterprise Sales Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a enterprise sales manager in California?
Most enterprise sales managers in California move into the role after several years as a top-performing individual contributor in B2B or enterprise sales. California employers typically require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, though many technology companies weigh a proven sales record above formal credentials. There is no state-issued license required for this role in California. Earning a Certified Sales Leadership Professional designation can strengthen a candidacy at larger California technology and enterprise software companies.
How much do enterprise sales managers make in California?
Enterprise sales managers in California earn a median of about $134,910 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,430 for the lowest 10% to over $300,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire enterprise sales managers in California?
Employers hiring enterprise sales managers in California right now include Box, Google, and Paychex, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's density of enterprise software, cloud, and healthcare technology headquarters means openings are spread across both established public companies and well-funded growth-stage firms.
Which California cities have the most enterprise sales manager jobs?
San Francisco, California, and Los Angeles have the most enterprise sales manager openings in California. San Francisco and San Jose are driven by the concentration of enterprise software and cloud companies headquartered in the Bay Area, while Los Angeles draws openings from media technology, healthcare IT, and professional services firms, and San Diego's life sciences and cybersecurity sectors generate consistent demand for enterprise sales leadership.
Are there remote enterprise sales manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 70% of enterprise sales manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's emphasis on managing distributed teams and working with buyers across multiple geographies. Strategic planning, pipeline reviews, and coaching calls translate well to remote settings, though some California employers still require on-site presence for executive briefings and major account meetings.
How can I get hired as a enterprise sales manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a strong record as an account executive or senior sales development representative at a California technology or enterprise software company. Large California employers including Salesforce and ServiceNow run structured sales leadership development programs that promote high-performing individual contributors into team lead or assistant manager roles. Building experience managing a small pod of sales development representatives or stepping into an acting team lead role during a coverage gap are concrete ways to gain the people-management proof most California hiring managers want before a first enterprise sales manager title.
