Office Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a office manager in Massachusetts?
Most Massachusetts employers expect at minimum an associate degree in business administration or a related field, with a bachelor's degree increasingly standard at larger organizations. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license for general office managers, but those working in medical or dental offices often need familiarity with healthcare compliance standards. Building experience through administrative assistant or coordinator roles at Boston-area companies, hospital systems, or universities is the most reliable path.
How much do office managers make in Massachusetts?
Office managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $76,770 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,020 for the lowest 10% to over $107,490 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire office managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring office managers in Massachusetts right now include Greystar, Lamacchia Landscape Construction, and Dental365, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of hospitals, biotech firms, and financial institutions means steady, year-round demand for experienced office management professionals across the state.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most office manager jobs?
Boston, Worcester, and Somerville have the most office manager openings in Massachusetts. Boston's dominant role as a hub for healthcare, finance, and professional services drives the largest share of listings, while Cambridge's concentration of biotech and university employers and Worcester's growing healthcare and insurance sector sustain strong hiring in those markets as well.
Are there remote office manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. About 17% of office manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most office management work. The functions most likely to be performed remotely include scheduling, vendor communications, and reporting, while facilities oversight and in-person staff support typically remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a office manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an administrative assistant or receptionist role at a Massachusetts hospital system, law firm, or university, where internal promotion to office manager is common. Large Massachusetts employers like academic medical centers and financial services firms in Boston often post junior administrative roles that serve as a direct ladder into management. Earning a certified administrative professional credential strengthens a candidacy meaningfully when experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to office manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to office manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that match.
