Outside Sales Representative Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a outside sales representative in Indiana?
Most outside sales representative positions in Indiana require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a field related to the industry you'll be selling into, such as life sciences for medical device roles or engineering for industrial equipment. Indiana does not require a state-issued license for general outside sales work, but roles in insurance or financial products require licensure through the Indiana Department of Insurance. Building experience in customer-facing or account management roles and learning a CRM platform strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How much do outside sales representatives make in Indiana?
Outside sales representatives in Indiana earn a median of about $71,330 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,810 for the lowest 10% to over $136,120 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire outside sales representatives in Indiana?
Indiana outside sales representative roles are posted by Carter Lumber, UniFirst, and Leaf Home and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's strength in advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and logistics means many of the most active employers are industrial suppliers, pharmaceutical companies, and regional distributors with territory-based field sales teams.
Which Indiana cities have the most outside sales representative jobs?
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Evansville have the most outside sales representative openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates the list as the state's commercial and healthcare hub, anchored by major employers in pharma and logistics, while Fort Wayne and Evansville generate strong demand from manufacturing and distribution companies that rely on field reps to manage regional business accounts.
Are there remote outside sales representative jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Outside sales is defined by in-person client visits and territory management, which limits full-remote arrangements by the nature of the role. About 42% of outside sales representative openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and most of those are in the prospecting and reporting portions of the job rather than the core account management responsibilities.
How can I get hired as a outside sales representative in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales or sales development representative role, which large Indiana employers like Salesforce-ecosystem companies, regional distributors, and healthcare suppliers use as a pipeline into field positions. Companies such as those in Indianapolis's life sciences corridor often run structured sales associate programs for recent graduates. Building familiarity with a CRM platform and earning an industry-relevant credential, such as a Certified Sales Professional designation, gives candidates without field experience a clear edge when applying.
Where can I find and apply to outside sales representative jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to outside sales representative jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find the roles that match your territory preferences and industry background, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
