Regional Sales Manager Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a regional sales manager in Michigan?
The most direct path is building several years of quota-carrying field sales experience in a Michigan-relevant industry such as automotive, manufacturing, or medical devices, then moving into team leadership. Michigan does not require a state-issued license to work as a regional sales manager. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline, and certifications from organizations like the Sales Management Association can strengthen a candidacy significantly.
How much do regional sales managers make in Michigan?
Regional sales managers in Michigan earn a median of about $136,870 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,790 for the lowest 10% to over $230,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire regional sales managers in Michigan?
Employers hiring regional sales managers in Michigan right now include Gillis Sales, Blufox Mobile, and Cumulus Media, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive, medical device, and industrial manufacturing headquarters means many of these roles involve managing Midwest-wide territories from a Michigan base.
Which Michigan cities have the most regional sales manager jobs?
Detroit, Michigan, and Kalamazoo account for the most regional sales manager openings in Michigan. Detroit drives volume through its automotive supply chain and corporate headquarters density, Grand Rapids attracts openings in medical devices and office furniture manufacturing anchored by companies like Stryker and Steelcase, and Ann Arbor draws roles tied to its healthcare and technology sector.
Are there remote regional sales manager jobs in Michigan?
Yes, but they are limited. Regional sales manager roles are inherently field-based, requiring regular in-person contact with clients and a distributed sales team, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 67% of regional sales manager openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those arrangements typically apply to administrative and strategy responsibilities rather than client-facing territory work.
How can I get hired as a regional sales manager in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is landing an individual contributor territory or account executive role at a Michigan employer, then earning a promotion internally. Companies like Stryker in Kalamazoo and automotive distributors in the Detroit metro regularly promote high-performing sales representatives into regional leadership. Completing a structured sales development program, building a documented record of quota achievement in an adjacent role such as account manager or district sales representative, and pursuing Sales Management Association coursework all improve candidacy before applying at the regional level.
Where can I find and apply to regional sales manager jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to regional sales manager jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to each position that fits.
