Sales Business Development Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales business development in Washington?
Most sales business development roles in Washington require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though some employers in technology and aerospace value demonstrated sales results over credentials. Washington does not issue a state license for this role. The most common path is to start in inside sales, account management, or marketing at a Washington technology or enterprise company, build a record of pipeline growth, and move into a business development title with broader partnership or strategic scope.
How much do sales business developments make in Washington?
Sales business developments in Washington earn a median of about $79,830 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,260 for the lowest 10% to over $148,610 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales business developments in Washington?
Companies currently hiring sales business developments in Washington include ZoomInfo, SunSource, and Amazon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's deep concentration of enterprise technology, cloud infrastructure, and aerospace firms means business development roles here frequently involve large commercial accounts and multi-year contracts.
Which Washington cities have the most sales business development jobs?
Seattle, Kent, and Auburn have the most sales business development openings in Washington. Seattle leads because it anchors the state's technology and enterprise software economy, while Bellevue and Redmond host major corporate campuses for companies like Microsoft and T-Mobile that run large commercial sales organizations, pulling significant demand into the Eastside corridor.
Are there remote sales business development jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 43% of sales business development openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Strategic and inside-focused business development roles, particularly in SaaS and cloud services, are the most likely to be fully remote or require only occasional travel to client sites.
How can I get hired as a sales business development in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business development representative or inside sales role at one of Washington's large technology employers, where structured sales development programs exist to train early-career candidates. Companies like Microsoft and Amazon run rotational and associate sales programs open to recent graduates. Lateral moves from account coordinator, marketing associate, or customer success roles at Washington-based firms are common. A completed bachelor's degree and familiarity with Salesforce or a comparable CRM will strengthen any application at this level.
Where can I find and apply to sales business development jobs in Washington?
