Territory Sales Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a territory sales manager in Massachusetts?
Most territory sales manager roles in Massachusetts require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a field tied to the industry you'll sell into, such as life sciences or engineering. Massachusetts does not issue a state license specific to sales management, so employers focus on industry knowledge and a proven sales history. Starting in an account executive, inside sales, or sales development role at a Massachusetts-based company in your target industry is the most direct path.
How much do territory sales managers make in Massachusetts?
Territory sales managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $191,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $100,510 for the lowest 10% to over $321,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire territory sales managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring territory sales managers in Massachusetts right now include Owens & Minor, Uline, and O'Reilly Auto Parts, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of life sciences, medtech, and enterprise software firms means many of these openings are tied to regulated or technical product lines that require industry-specific knowledge.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most territory sales manager jobs?
Boston, Quincy, and Worcester lead Massachusetts in territory sales manager openings. Boston and its inner suburbs dominate because of the dense concentration of biotech, medical device, and enterprise technology headquarters there, while Worcester and other regional hubs attract openings from industrial distribution and healthcare services companies serving central and western Massachusetts.
Are there remote territory sales manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles, since territory sales managers are typically expected to visit accounts and prospect in person within an assigned region. About 73% of territory sales manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be roles where the product is sold digitally or where national accounts reduce the need for local travel.
How can I get hired as a territory sales manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or inside sales associate role at a Massachusetts life sciences, technology, or distribution company, which builds the product knowledge and quota history employers look for. Companies like Thermo Fisher Scientific and Insulet run structured sales rotation or associate programs that move candidates into territory roles after demonstrated performance. Earning a relevant industry certification and building a record of outbound activity in a named Massachusetts territory significantly strengthens an application.
