Which insurance companies sponsor E-3 visas in New York?
Several large carriers and brokers based in New York have a history of sponsoring work visas for specialty occupation roles. AIG, Marsh McLennan, Chubb, MetLife, and New York Life are among the most active employers in the state. Mid-size insurers and reinsurers with New York offices also sponsor E-3 visas, particularly for actuarial, underwriting, and analytics positions that require a relevant bachelor's degree.
Which cities in New York have the most insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs?
New York City, specifically Manhattan, concentrates the majority of insurance E-3 sponsorship roles due to the density of global carrier headquarters, Lloyd's of London syndicates, and large brokerage firms in the area. White Plains and Melville on Long Island also host regional insurance operations with periodic openings. For roles in reinsurance and specialty lines, Manhattan remains the clear center of hiring activity in the state.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. In insurance, roles that consistently meet this standard include actuarial analyst, underwriter, risk analyst, catastrophe modeler, financial analyst, and compliance officer. General administrative or sales support roles may not qualify if a specific degree is not a stated requirement for the position.
How do I find insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa type, so you can search for insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs in New York without wading through roles that don't sponsor. The platform surfaces employers in New York's insurance sector that have filed Labor Condition Applications, giving you a targeted starting point. Filtering by industry and state on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to general job searches.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for insurance E-3 sponsorship?
New York's Department of Financial Services regulates insurers operating in the state, which means certain roles in compliance, legal, and risk functions may require familiarity with New York-specific licensing requirements. While the E-3 visa itself is a federal process, employers in heavily regulated New York insurance markets tend to prefer candidates who can quickly obtain any required state licenses. Australian candidates should confirm whether their target role involves licensed activities before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 insurance jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
