Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Completes defined scope and standards of practice. Engages in environmental scanning to identify practice gaps and collaborates with others in improving practice and healthcare outcomes. Functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for Nursing Professional Development (NPD) specialty, and partner for practice transitions. Supports learning, change, professional role competence and growth, which ultimately lead to optimal patient care, population health, and protection of the public. FT position available (36 hours), primarily days/evenings. On-Call responsibilities per unit requirements.
This Master’s Prepared candidate will serve in a unique 50% clinical, 50% educator role at the service level. The Perianesthesia NPD works to assess, design/develop, implement, and evaluate programs and initiatives at the service level ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. The main areas of focus will include, but are not limited to: staff education and professional development, practice standards review, onboarding/nurse residency coordination, competency updating, teaching/in-services, as well as monitoring and developing action plans to improve quality metrics. This candidate will also have an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other highly motivated educators within the Perioperative Service Department. The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must. 3 years critical care and/or perianesthesia nursing experience preferred. Certified Post-Anesthesia Care Nurse (CPAN) and/or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) professional certifications highly recommended. Master’s degree required.
