Business Development Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development in Hawaii?
Most business development roles in Hawaii require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a closely related field, though no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Employers in Hawaii's defense contracting sector often require or prefer a federal security clearance. Building local industry knowledge in tourism, healthcare, or federal contracting and developing relationships through organizations like the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce or HTDC gives candidates a meaningful edge.
Which companies hire business developments in Hawaii?
Hawaii business development roles are posted by GHD, Navian Hawaii, and Logistics Plus and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's concentration of federal contractors, major hospital networks, and visitor industry companies means business development openings appear across a broad range of established local and national employers.
Which Hawaii cities have the most business development jobs?
Honolulu, Kīhei, and Kahului have the most business development openings in Hawaii. Honolulu accounts for the largest share given its density of corporate headquarters, federal agency offices, and major healthcare and hospitality employers, while other areas reflect activity from resort operators, smaller regional healthcare systems, and defense-related contractors with island-specific operations.
Are there remote business development jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than many might expect, since business development work is relationship-driven but often desk-based and well-suited to remote arrangements. About 100% of business development openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employer flexibility on the mainland-facing side of the role. Client-facing positions tied to local accounts or government contracts in Hawaii are more likely to require an on-island presence.
How can I get hired as a business development in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales coordinator, account coordinator, or marketing associate role at a Hawaii-based hospitality company, healthcare system, or federal contractor, where you learn pipeline management and client relationships from the ground up. Large employers such as Hawaiian Airlines and The Queen's Health Systems occasionally hire entry-level business operations associates who rotate into growth roles. Building familiarity with Hawaii's visitor industry or defense procurement landscape, and earning a foundational sales or business certification, strengthens an early-career application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to business development jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to business development jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
