Commercial Account Manager Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a commercial account manager in South Carolina?
The path depends on which sector you target. For commercial insurance roles, the South Carolina Department of Insurance requires you to pass the Property and Casualty licensing exam before you can manage client accounts. For non-insurance commercial roles in logistics, manufacturing, or financial services, employers typically look for a bachelor's degree in business or marketing combined with prior B2B sales or client service experience. Starting in an inside sales or account coordinator role at a South Carolina-based employer is the most common entry route.
How much do commercial account managers make in South Carolina?
Commercial account managers in South Carolina earn a median of about $58,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $32,280 for the lowest 10% to over $126,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire commercial account managers in South Carolina?
Companies currently hiring commercial account managers in South Carolina include HUB International, USI Insurance Services, and Countybank, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. South Carolina's strong insurance, manufacturing, and logistics sectors mean that both regional carriers and national employers with large in-state operations are consistently among the most active hirers.
Which South Carolina cities have the most commercial account manager jobs?
Greenville, Charleston, and North Charleston have the most commercial account manager openings in South Carolina. Columbia drives volume as the state capital and home to major insurance carriers and financial institutions, Greenville anchors the Upstate manufacturing and distribution corridor, and Charleston's growing port economy and professional services sector fuel demand in the Lowcountry.
Are there remote commercial account manager jobs in South Carolina?
Yes, and more than many sales-adjacent roles, since a meaningful portion of account management work involves phone outreach, email communication, and CRM updates that can be done off-site. About 67% of commercial account manager openings tied to South Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though roles involving in-person client visits or territory coverage typically require at least partial on-site presence. Portfolio and policy renewal work is the part of the job most commonly done remotely.
How can I get hired as a commercial account manager in South Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales associate or account coordinator role at a South Carolina insurer or distribution company, where you build client management skills before moving into a full account manager seat. Employers such as BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and regional insurance agencies regularly hire entry-level account service representatives. Completing the South Carolina Property and Casualty licensing exam before applying gives candidates a clear edge, even without prior book-of-business experience, because it removes a barrier employers otherwise have to sponsor.
Where can I find and apply to commercial account manager jobs in South Carolina?
You can find and apply to commercial account manager jobs in South Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, identify the roles that fit your background and target sector, and apply directly to the ones that match your experience.
