Financial Officer Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial officer in Indiana?
Most financial officer roles in Indiana require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business, followed by several years of progressive experience in corporate or public accounting. While Indiana does not license the financial officer title itself, candidates who hold a CPA issued through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency or a CFA charter consistently advance faster. Many hiring managers in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne also expect familiarity with healthcare or manufacturing finance given the state's dominant industries.
Which companies hire financial officers in Indiana?
Employers hiring financial officers in Indiana right now include CONN-SELMER, McGuire Sponsel, and Rehab Industries, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's mix of pharmaceutical headquarters, large health systems, and regional manufacturers means financial officer openings appear across a wider range of industries than in many comparable Midwest states.
Which Indiana cities have the most financial officer jobs?
Indianapolis, Elkhart, and Newburgh consistently post the most financial officer openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it serves as the state's corporate headquarters hub, home to major health systems and Fortune 500 offices, while Fort Wayne and Evansville add volume through regional manufacturing operations and community banking institutions that require dedicated finance leadership.
Are there remote financial officer jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than most fields, because financial officer work is primarily analytical and desk-based rather than tied to a physical production floor. About 100% of financial officer openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in corporate finance. Roles focused on financial planning and analysis or treasury management tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions requiring direct oversight of on-site accounting teams typically remain in-office.
How can I get hired as a financial officer in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a financial analyst or senior accountant role first, then building toward officer-level titles over several years. Indiana University Health, Eli Lilly, and Cummins all run structured rotational finance programs and new-graduate associate roles that place candidates on a defined leadership track. Earning a CPA through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency while in an analyst role signals readiness to hiring managers and shortens the timeline considerably.
Where can I find and apply to financial officer jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to financial officer jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings updated in real time. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and location preferences, and apply directly through each listing without needing to create a profile or go through a separate sign-up process.
