National Account Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a national account manager in Texas?
Most national account manager roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, combined with several years of progressively responsible sales experience. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role. Employers in Texas typically expect candidates to have a history of managing complex accounts, so building a record of quota attainment and client retention in a prior sales role is the most direct path to landing this position.
How much do national account managers make in Texas?
National account managers in Texas earn a median of about $65,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,380 for the lowest 10% to over $137,020 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire national account managers in Texas?
Employers hiring national account managers in Texas right now include Georgia-Pacific, GME Supply, and KnowBe4, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's dense concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major healthcare systems, and energy companies means national account manager openings appear consistently across a wide range of industries throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most national account manager jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston have the most national account manager openings in Texas. Houston's energy and industrial distribution base, Dallas's concentration of corporate headquarters and logistics operations, and Austin's fast-growing enterprise technology sector each generate steady, year-round demand for national account managers at multiple seniority levels.
Are there remote national account manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they are fairly common, since national account management is a relationship-driven role that can be conducted largely by phone, video, and travel rather than from a fixed office. About 72% of national account manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly companies have adopted flexible arrangements for senior sales roles. Strategic account planning, forecasting, and internal reporting are the functions most likely to be performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a national account manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a national account manager role from an inside sales, account executive, or territory sales position at a Texas-based company. Large Texas employers in technology, medical devices, and distribution such as Dell Technologies, Sysco, and Thermo Fisher Scientific run structured sales development and associate account manager programs designed for candidates early in their careers. Building familiarity with a CRM platform and completing a Certified Professional Sales Person credential strengthens a candidate's application considerably before making the step up.
