Outside Sales Representative Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a outside sales representative in Missouri?
Most outside sales representative roles in Missouri require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though demonstrated sales experience can substitute at many employers. Missouri does not issue a state license specifically for outside sales representatives, but roles in industries like insurance or financial products require separate Missouri-specific licenses through the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance or FINRA. Building product knowledge in your target industry and completing employer onboarding training are the most common paths into the role.
How much do outside sales representatives make in Missouri?
Outside sales representatives in Missouri earn a median of about $61,940 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $35,110 for the lowest 10% to over $125,280 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire outside sales representatives in Missouri?
Missouri outside sales representative roles are posted by Cleft of the Rock, Spectrum, and Groundworks and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's strong manufacturing, agricultural distribution, and financial services sectors mean outside sales opportunities appear across a wide range of established regional and national employers with Missouri operations.
Which Missouri cities have the most outside sales representative jobs?
St. Louis, Springfield, and Kansas City have the most outside sales representative openings in Missouri right now. Kansas City and St. Louis drive the majority of postings because of their dense concentrations of corporate headquarters, distribution hubs, and healthcare systems, while Springfield contributes a meaningful share through its regional financial services firms and agricultural supply companies anchored in southwest Missouri.
Are there remote outside sales representative jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they're rare. Outside sales representative work is defined by in-person client visits and territory management, so fully remote positions are uncommon by the nature of the role. About 56% of outside sales representative openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a small segment where account management or inside-outside hybrid structures allow some work-from-home flexibility. The most remote-friendly portions of the role are pipeline reporting, CRM updates, and virtual follow-up calls.
How can I get hired as a outside sales representative in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for sales development representative or inside sales associate roles at Missouri-based companies, then moving into outside sales once you have demonstrated results. Large Missouri employers in distribution, agricultural equipment, and business services commonly promote from internal roles rather than hiring outside sales representatives externally. Building familiarity with a CRM platform and completing any relevant product-area coursework at a Missouri community college or university gives candidates a concrete edge. Emerson Electric, Sysco, and regional insurance carriers operating in Missouri all run structured onboarding programs suited to candidates with limited field experience.
Where can I find and apply to outside sales representative jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to outside sales representative jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings across industries and metro areas. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
