Regional Sales Director Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a regional sales director in Massachusetts?
Most regional sales directors in Massachusetts advance through a progression of individual contributor and sales management roles, typically starting in account executive or territory manager positions. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license for most sales director roles, though candidates in financial services may need FINRA Series registrations. Employers in life sciences and medtech consistently favor candidates with industry-specific technical knowledge alongside a demonstrated record of team leadership and revenue growth.
How much do regional sales directors make in Massachusetts?
Regional sales directors in Massachusetts earn a median of about $191,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $100,510 for the lowest 10% to over $321,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire regional sales directors in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring regional sales directors in Massachusetts right now include Jobot, Passion Dental, and RegalCare Rehabilitation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of life sciences headquarters, major financial institutions, and enterprise technology companies means sustained, year-round demand for experienced regional sales leadership.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most regional sales director jobs?
Boston, Massachusetts, and Worcester have the most regional sales director openings in Massachusetts. Boston dominates due to its concentration of biotech, financial services, and enterprise technology employers, while Cambridge draws heavily from the life sciences and research-driven companies clustered around Kendall Square, and Worcester reflects growing demand from healthcare systems and regional manufacturing firms expanding their commercial teams.
Are there remote regional sales director jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many management roles, since strategic oversight and client relationship work can often be handled remotely. About 77% of regional sales director openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how common flexible arrangements have become in technology and financial services. The most remote-friendly segments are SaaS and enterprise software sales, where the territory itself is virtual.
How can I get hired as a regional sales director in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a team lead or sales manager role first, which large Massachusetts employers such as Thermo Fisher Scientific, State Street, and HubSpot use to develop senior commercial talent internally. Starting as a senior account executive or territory manager in medtech, fintech, or enterprise software gives you the closest foundation. Earning a relevant industry credential, such as a FINRA Series license for financial sales or a clinical product certification for medtech, accelerates consideration for director-level roles.
